Back in the day. The coach would actually run some plays and get the ball inside. These clowns now tell them to just keep jacking them up. Great coaching.
oh, it ain't coaching. it's analytics. trying to ruin every sport. not sure how it'll get hockey, but they'll figure something out.
Agree! Seems they use analytics as an excuse when they make a bad decision and the announcers go right along with it!

funny thing is, analytics are their own worst enemy. a few years ago, i'd imagine the numbers were accurate. the 3-pt shot WAS more "valuable." but that's probably because the teams that were shooting the most 3's were actually GOOD at it. it doesn't work when suddenly EVERYBODY is shooting as many 3's as they can.
like everything else, they can be a useful tool. but when you base everything around them with no wiggle room, you're probably not going to be successful in the long term.
getting slightly off topic, this is as good a place as any for a mini-rant.... it fucking kills me when a game is tied in the closing seconds and you're just watching the guy with the ball dribble around, knowing full well he's going to settle for a tough 3-pointer instead of taking the ball to the rim and/or dishing off for an easier shot.
