Thanks for the reply 3 Putt. Was just wanting your opinion on Ball St and EMU today.
EMU can drive a person to drink. Decent talent, especially Freshman Thompson who is a big that will play professionally once he gets some seasoning. The problem with them is they are not particularly well coached and their players often appear to be playing with the sole intent of filling their stat lines. They play a zone defense but I've seen them 5-6 times this year and it's a lazy zone with cracks in it. Ball also shoots the 3 ball pretty well so they can score over it. E Mich also fouls a lot. Bottom 50 in fouls per possession.
Ball St is well coached, the "smarter" if you will, team. not as much individual talent as EMU but their playing pretty well now. The first game between the two teams was stolen away from Eastern by the officials. They will be plenty motivated today. Here is the story:
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) ? The Mid-American Conference has suspended two officials who failed to blow a whistle during the chaotic final seconds of a double overtime game between Eastern Michigan and Ball State.
In a statement Sunday, the conference said errors in judgment "must be met with swift and firm disciplinary action."
Ball State defeated Eastern Michigan with a 3-pointer on Saturday. Before the basket, the officials didn't stop play, despite Ball State aggressively stripping the ball from Eastern Michigan's Ethan Alvano and an apparent traveling violation.
MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher says the final play "was not handled appropriately."
Two of the three officials are suspended for two games and won't work the conference tournament. Their names weren't released."
And the poor officiating went much deeper than that particular play as well. I watched the entire game and Eastern really got the short end of the stick all day.
Whats it all mean? Hell, I don't have a clue. Just giving you some stuff that doesn't show in the box score. On the surface the line sure seems light but if Eastern shows up with their best stuff they can win.
It's a really tough call given what happened in the first game. I'm staying far, far away.
