It's been reported that 4 players from Ohio State will be charged with assault and property damage that occured after the Buckeyes victory over Purdue.

AD Andy Geiger is downplaying the charges and was quoted as saying that "this matter has been closed."

The players have not been named and the assault involved 4 girls from Youngstown, OH.

More as I get it.......

Here...this is what I got.
It says that OSU officials say that no one will be charged....

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State officials say no football players will be
charged after an incident that occurred early Sunday morning near Ohio
Stadium.

Buckeyes athletic director Andy Geiger said Monday night that the
investigation is over. He would not release details or names of the
players.

WJW TV in Cleveland reported that as many as four players were involved in
an assault and property damage case about 4 a.m. Sunday.

According to the WJW report, the incident originated at Columbus hip-hop
club and culminated with a car chase to Morrill Tower on the Ohio State
campus.

The police report, obtained by WJW, stated that campus police opened a
criminal investigation after four women alleged they were assaulted at
Morrill Tower.

The Buckeyes beat Purdue 16-13 in overtime Saturday at the stadium.

Geiger says the case was investigated by campus police. A dispatcher at the
police department said he could not release any information.

No charges will be brought and Tressel says discipline will be handled "in house". He did say that all the players in question were guilty of is being out too late.

Injury wise I hear the Bucks are more banged up on the OL than they are lettting on. DL Darrion Scott is also aching. On the Marlin Jackson (leg) will play, but was limping noticably vs NW last week. Willis Barringer has looked very good in his absence and will play if Marlin is not effective. Only other significant UM injury is Jacob Stewart, a reserve safety, who will not play. This is as healthy as I have seen UM in November since 1997 fwiw.

We all know how Tressel handles discipline....he doesn't give any until his hand is forced.

That's good though, I'd hate to see 4 players have to sit for this game, especially if they were key players.

BTW - So far, the weather report in AA for Saturday is 54 and a 10% percent chance of rain.

"We all know how Tressel handles discipline....he doesn't give any until his hand is forced. "

And I guess that's so much different than any other winning Major college football coach, right?

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Did someone from UM get into trouble?

If you're referring to what happened to Marlin Jackson back in August, he was immediatley suspended by Carr for the season opener. Or if you're referring to Braylon Edwards being late for that meeting back in early October....he was benched for 2 quarters against Indiana. Besides, these instances have nothing to do with this weeks game.

I for one hope no one gets suspended or even benched for this game, and with Tressel and Geiger, I doubt they will.

Good Luck to you and your team.

BTW - If Ann Arbor can be "whore"....then I guess Brutus can be a fag.

i'm begging for us to play either michigan or ohio st. in a bcs bowl game. Texas/Michigan in the Rose would be too good to be true.

With ya on that one Monk. Thats a matchup I've wanted to see for years. Can you imagine what it would be like with an 8 team playoff system? We'd get to see teams like Texas, Michigan, Miami, FSU, USC, Fla, OU etc match up every year in December. The current system makes great intersectional matchups way too rare. No one wants to play tough non-conf games anymore.

as for the buckeye contingent and mademan, there are rivals message boards that are the perfect venue for pissing contests.........

Texas/Michigan is very doable (if all the favorites win out as expected, i.e. no upsets prior to the bowl selections) because the Fiesta will not pass up on a one loss team, which allows the Rose to pickup Texas if it wants. Here's a likely scenario: 13-0 OU & 11-1 USC are in the Sugar; LSU wins out to go 12-1 (Fiesta would pick the BCS No. 3 SEC champ before selecting Texas); and Rose prefers the 10-2 Mich/ 10-2 Texas matchup better than Michigan/WSU. Otherwise, the Rose stays with a traditional Big 10/Pac 10 game and Texas gets selected with Fiesta's second pick for a rematch of last year's 35-20 Texas win in the cotton bowl.

Another reason I would love to see this matchup is because my diehard Wolverine friend I have here in Austin won't shutup about how bad they will kick our asses if we ever meet up. I love this time of year! :)

Brutus,

Not before this game, (but there are still 3 days to go).

Hey, I'm just trying to give people a heads up that there could be possible discipline coming outta Columbus. Don't you think that could change peoples wagers if a couple of players were benched or suspended?

It looks like nothing will come outta this though.

BTW - I did a search on JSMOOTH......

if that was your only reason... then that is a good one. It would very much change the way people would bet on the game. However, remember 2 years ago Tressel benched starting qb
for "THE GAME" for DUI charges and started a back-up with no experience what-so-ever! All I am saying is that I believe Tressel is a stand up guy & would absolutely do the right thing and suspend ANY player if he thought the situation warrented it.

Enough of this already though, as much as I dislike UM ...I do respect their program because without them there would not be "THE GAME" each year, which is undoubtedly the best rivalry in organized sports.

Good Luck Sat.

Just wanted to clear something up, you said "No one wants to play tough non-conf games anymore."

USC prides itself on playing and scheduling tough OOC games. USC plays anyone, anywhere. USC has been beggging Miami to play for the last 2 years and they keep saying no. USC does not take the easy route to a NC. Unfortunately the teams USC scheduled this year did not play up to par. 3/4 OOC teams were bowl teams last year. Might cost USC a NC.

I quote Beano Cook said, "If USC could schedule a PRO TEAM, they would."

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!

USC is one of the top 5 college football programs of all time. Look at how many games USC has won (top 10 all time wins), National Championships, Rose Bowls, Heismons, traditions, rivalries etc....

USC has been down last 15 years and now USC is back. (still accomplished a lot of stuff in the down years)

Look at ESPN and how much cover time they have given USC. USC is great program to market.

I don't know what i said that ticked you off, but USC has been there before and I have said nothing to dis-respect anyone else.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott,

I think the frustration :banghead: is probably from the fact that this thread is about probable suspensions for the Buckeyes and then some sort of discussion came about a probable matchup with Texas/Michigan and then somehow the thread turns into the 27th thread with your opinion that the Trojans do everything right, got screwed last and this year, and are one of the top 5 prestigious programs in the country.

We get it. You like USC and think that they deserve to go to the national championship game.

I have enjoyed the stuff that you post but would be much more grateful if you posted how USC feels about UCLA, what the coaches are saying and what the matchups look like for the weekend so that we can get back to HANDICAPPING discussions.
