Found one I really like on tonight's menu..............
4 units Oakland(-104)
Two teams that appear to be going in opposite directions meet tonight in Oakland, and I'll take the team that looks to be on the upswing at virtually a pick'em.
Let's start by looking at the two teams. Oakland finally seems to be turning things around winning 4 straight before losing to the dominant Roy Halladay last night. In those 4 wins they scored 11, 5, 10 and 5 runs, so it looks like their offence has awoken. Toronto did win the series opener last night behind Halladay, but have lost 5 of their last 8 , and are actually 1-5 in their last 6 games NOT started by ace Halladay. Advantage: Oakland.
On the mound tonight are two starters with some ugly stats.
Ted Lilly goes for the Jays..........
3-5................7.60 ERA.........1.78 WHIP
Joe Blanton goes for the A's.............
0-5.............6.66 ERA.............1.64 WHIP
Not much to choose from there, but if we delve a little deeper, we see that Lilly is 0-3 on the road with a 9.92 ERA and 2.20 WHIP. He has a career ERA vs the A's of 8.56. Blanton has only seen Toronto once but he pitched very well, giving up only 1 ER in 6 IP with a .83 WHIP.
Oakland is 2-1 in his last 3 starts, 3-1 in his last 4 home starts, and the A's have actually won 6 of their last 8 home games.
On the batting side of things, I've already mentioned the A's scoring 31 runs in 4 games before last night. On the other hand, Toronto has scored 3 runs or less in 5 of their last 8. Advantage: Oakland
The Jays hit lefties and righties about equal, but Oakland's numbers are better against lefthanders, which they face tonight in Ted Lilly.................their team batting average and slugging percentage are both 30 points higher.
So, we have a hotter team, with the better bats, and at worst, a saw-off on the mound, playing at home in a pick'em game. I'm in.

Good luck out there today,
