ILL GIVE YOU MY THOUGHTS BUBBA...WORTH WHAT?...WHO KNOWS..LOL.... AS IS STATED WHEN IT HAPPENED...I WASNT A BUG MARRIUCCI GUY....AS A NINERS FAN I THOUGHT HE PLAYED TO CONSERVATIVELY AT TIMES....I UNDERSTOOD THAT HE WAS TRYING TO PLAY THE BALL CONTROL GAME ....ESPECIALLY WITH THE DEFENSE THEY HAD FOR A FEW YEARS...WITH THE HUGE RECIVERS THEY HAD I REALLY THOUGHT THEY UNDER-UTILIZED THE AIR GAME....AND RELIED WAY TOO MUCH ON THE GROUND ATTACK....

THAT BEING SAID ...I THINK WE CAN BOTH AGREE THAT THE DEFENSE IS THE WEAK LINK ON THIS TEAM (NOT TO MENTION THE FIELD GOAL KICKER) ...I DONT SEE HOW ERICSON ADDRESSES THIS CONCERN AT ALL....CAN YOU THINK OF A DEFENSE THAT HE BUILT AND WAS FORMIDABLE ???...

I THINK WHAT HAPPENED HERE IS THAT THE NINERS SAID ...WE NEED A CHANGE BUT DIDNT THINK OUT WHAT THIER OPTIONS WERE ONCE THAT CHANGE WAS MADE...I CANT BELIEVE THAT THIS GUY WAS ON THE TOP OF ANYONES LIST...IF HE WAS ON ANY LIST AT ALL...IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HE BRINGS TO THIS TEAM ???...A CHANGE IN OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY???...MAYBE ...BUT IM NOT CONVINCED THAT HIS PHILOSOPHY IS ANY BETTER THAT MARRIUCCI'S ...EVEN THOUGH I DISAGREED WITH A LOT OF HIS PLAY CALLING...

IM ASSUMING THAT ERICSON MAY OPEN UP THIS OFFENSE A LITTLE MORE WITH MORE PASSING DOWNFIELD ....IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN I THINK WE MAY SEE EXACTLY HOW GOOD GARCIA REALLY IS...HE HAS BEEN SOMEWHAT PROTECTED IN THIS OFFENSE ...HE HAS NOT BEEN ASKED TO THROW THE BALL DEEP VERY OFTEN...AND WHEN HE DOES ...HE DOES NOT SEEM THAT EFFECTIVE...

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I THINK THE NINERS FIRED MARRIUCCI FOR THE SAKE OF CHANGE....IM JUST NOT SURE THAT THE CHANGE IS IS FOR THE BETTER

I PERSONNALY WOULD TAKE MARIUCCI EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK OVER ERICSON...FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN OVER THIER COACHING CAREERS

BUT THATS JUST ME...

Mariucci/Erricson won't make a difference on this team. Coaching wasn't really the problem before, but maybe they will be a bit less conservative now. The defense is not bad, but it is nothing special.

The missing ingredient on this team, which would most likely bring them to the superbowl is another receiver who can take pressure and double-teams away from Owens. That's it. They need a Carter to their Moss, a Rice to their Brown, a McCardell to their Smith. Tai Streets doesn't cut it, and until they get some prime time receiver then they will finish in the same place every year.

Got to love Kevan Barlow though.....

With the coaching change, I believe we will see the emergence of Kevan Barlow. There should be less 2 back sets or splitting time between Barlow & Hearst. Can't wait to see Barlow ball
:D

Watch for the 49ers to sweep Seattle this year. Erickson was fired from the Hawks after accumulating a 31-33 record, this is the same record Holmgren has achieved in his time in Seattle. Erickson will do all it takes to win the 2 games against is former club.

Just one opinion :p
