GAME DAY Saskatchewan Roughriders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats; SCOUTING REPORT

The Hamilton Spectator

Run for fun

Tiger-Cats put up 311 rushing yards in their 32-13 victory over Toronto with Jesse Lumsden providing 189 of them. The rushing attack has emerged as a team strength with Lumsden's abilities augmented by the running of Casey Printers and Tre Smith. Keep it comin', boys.

Air it out

Casey Printers is throwing the ball well and put in arguably his best performance in Cat colours last week. With the Riders gearing up to stop the run, Printers has to try to connect with the long ball to stretch the defence.

Make Saskatchewan throw

The Riders are planning to give third-string QB Darian Durant is first CFL start. Which means Durant is a QB with limited experience and success in the CFL. Cats can't make it easy on Durant by setting him up for short second downs. Cats have to take away Rider rush attack and force Durant into uncomfortable scenarios, namely completing a high percentage of passes.

Improve kick coverage

This is one area that could hurt Hamilton. The Argos' Dominique Dorsey enjoyed a field day against the Cat kick coverage. Cats will be facing newcomer Weston Dressler, who has had 13 punt returns for 185 yards, best so far in the league.

Neutralize Wes Cates

The Rider running back will handle the rock a lot, either running out of the backfield or catching it out of the backfield. Riders will go to him to take pressure off the passing game. Cats have to put the brakes on Cates.
