I read this in a magazine & know there are smokers at Madjack's.
Thought you would get a kick out of this.

Sure, smoking's bad for you,but c'mon......5 Ridiculous Places You Can't Smoke.....

1.State prison,Maine.A cigarette fetches $10 on the black market.

2.Your yard,Montgomery County,Md.If smoke goes onto your neighbor's property,you face a $750 fine.

3.Bars,Eugene,Oregon.Following California's lead, this city proclaimed "last call" for all who thought a drink & a smoke went hand in hand.

4.Bowling alleys,Putnam County,NY.This ban affects exactly one establishment.

5.Your co-op,180 West End Ave.,NYC.If new owners light up,the co-op board will throw you out.

Does anyone else know any other ridulous bans ?

Unless it's been repealed, which I doubt...

Wolf Trap Farm Park (outdoor concert venue near DC) in all seating, including lawn!

Do us Californians a favor and stay in your rathole state of Arizona if you are going to smoke like all the other scumbags.

One question: are you a native of CA?

From NH, live in DC and I LOVE traveling to California. Its great to be able to go out to restaurants and bars the whole night and not come home smelling like a pig. I wish more places would do it.

It's pretty much been disproven that second hand smoke causes cancer in others, even though it is widely believed. And that was the real rallying cry for people who wanted to get smoking banned in public places.

However, it can cause problems for people with asthma and other breathing problems.

But, even if there were no health problems associated with it, I'm with ACE. Its annoying to people around you for lots of reasons (smell, eye-irritation, etc.). You can say, "don't go to bars" or "don't go to ballgames" and you'd be right. BUT, the bars and the ballparks (or the towns they exist in) have made the decision that they'd rather make the non-smokers happy than the smokers.

Also, like madjack, my wife has allergies and if we sit in a smoky bar all night she feels miserable that night and most of the next day, no exaggeration. Given a choice of a smoke-free bar and a smoking bar, we'll take a smoke-free place, and that relates to the place's bottom line, and that's what really factors into decisions. If a ballpark advertises itself as smoke free and gets a few more families a year, then you need a lot of smokers staying away to make up for that.

YES TYSON,

I was born in Long Beach Memorial Hospital, I am a 5th generation Californian. It is a valid question that I ask all the time. I hate it when people move here.

Actually it's Ryson....5th generation ...hmm....ever found gold? Reason I ask is because 9 times out of 10 it's people who are not from CA that get on the stump about things. Since you are 5th generation I hope you had the foresight and were able to buy some houses and cash in on all the people moving there....I did. Yes I am a CA native but I live in TX and yes my family did find gold.

Back in '99, I flew to Hong Kong via Japan Airlines. The attendants kindly reminded us that it was one of the last flights where smoking was allowed at the back of the plane.

That was enjoyable. Nowadays, can you imagine an 18hour flight with no smokes?
