Here?s a problem my niece had today that I think is ridiculous. I will write out the question and then post a screenshot of the answers. They sure have made a simple problem difficult even though the intent is to make it easier to understand. #fail

Alex has 7 pounds of birdseed and 5 feeders. Which model shows how much birdseed he should but into each bird feeder?

I hope I am fifth grade level, but you should put 1/5 of the 7 pounds into 5 feeders so obviously "B". Making the feeder boxes smaller is the catch and I agree with Clint.

Yes. It?s 1.4 pounds per feeder or 1 2/5ths pounds. The answer has to be in the form of those drawings though.
I remember taking trig and thinking.......I will never use this shit
Yet, I was never taught anything relative to finances, closing costs on buying a home or how to invest in the stock market. You know, the REALLY important shit to prepare yourself for adulthood.

If the answer isn't B you're going to have to prove it to me.

Correct, but I think it?s silly to teach children like this and advertise it as making it easier to understand.

It?s not about solving that problem. It?s about developing their minds to solve more complex problems so they don?t need a calculator or a paper and pen to think about math.
