"the bunker"
maybe the worst decision in recent memory.........i could see 99-90.....the other way.... if you included the knockdown that wasn`t called a knockdown.....and the ridiculous point deduction....

i almost bet augustus....but he clowned a win away in his last fight and got d.q.`ed.....that concerned me....

what`s reallly troubling is that at least one of the judges didn`t know the difference between a split decision and a majority decision.....that`s beyond belief....

that may be the worst decision i`ve seen in years.....seriously...

i`m glad you got the over....was a little worried about burton finishing...

but,that`s not good for boxing....on national t.v....

there`s no reason for augustus to act like that in the ring....he was dominating....a very immature guy....considering his experience....

again,glad you caught the over....but that decision.....whew....

I have mixed feelings about that fight. I agree that Augustus was the better fighter and dominated Burton when he squared up and fought. The problem is that after the 3rd or 4th round Augustus spent more time dicking off than fighting. You could make a point that the last 6 rounds had to go to Burton due to the fact that he actually fought the whole three minutes of each round, Augustus danced around for 2.5 minutes then fought for 30 seconds.

I completely agree that the point deductions were BS and the body shots that put Burton on the canvas should have resulted in a knockdown for Augustus not a 5 minute (much needed) break for Burton. The ref said he took a point because Augustus spun Burton around, but in reality he spun himself around to get out of a clinch. But the biggest problem I had was when Burton continuously rabbit punched Augustus in the back of the head. The ref acted like it didn't happen and then warned Augustus for hitting Burton's glove with the back of his head.

I don't know if I'm more disgusted over the referee/judging or Augustus' display of disrespect for his opponent and the sport of boxing in general. Sure fighters like Ali, Leonard, and Jones have danced around in the ring from time to time but it was usually only a few times a fight for a few seconds at a time and in no way disrespected the opponent. Augustus is not a professional fighter he is an amateur clown, and as a judge I would have a very hard time giving him any round in which he dicked off more than he fought. But there is no excuse for the way the ref called the fight.

IMO this just shows how ignorant Augustus must be. Like you said he was dq'd in his last fight due to his behavior in the ring and he obviously didn't learn his lesson. Everyone in boxing knows how hard it is to win a decision in the opponents back yard but Augustus chose to give Burton, the ref, and the judges every chance to screw him out of a decision. I don't feel sorry for the guy one bit. If he would have taken this fight seriously he would have won easily, but he turned the judges (and obviously the ref) against him and it cost him. Just like Judah's behavior in the ring almost cost him an easy win over Corely.

I have to thank Augustus for being a jackass though. There is no dought in my mind that he would have stopped Burton in the mid to late rounds if he actually cared about winning and fought hard for the full 3 minutes of each round. Thanks for the winner, loser!

I can't believe Teddy and Joe didn't have a problem with Augustus' obvious disrespect for his opponent and the sport in general. I was also suprised that Burton didn't have a problem with the way Augustus was fighting him. I guess he realized that Augustus was giving away the fight with his behavior so he let it go.

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks there is no need for Augustus' behavior in "professional" boxing.

You can talk junk about Agustus all you want but it really don't matter. Who caes if he clowns around as long as he comes to fight. He threw more and landed more than Burton in just about every round. Let's see, the 4 criteria to judge a bout are ...

1. Clean effective punching

2. Ring generalship

3. Effective agression

4. Defense

Agustus basically won all those categories as well excpet effective agression. Burton was agressive but getting the shit countered out of himself, so his agression wasn't to effective. I sure as hell wouldn't want some fool judging bouts and giving rounds to 1 guy just because he's agressive when he's getting his ass beat. That ruling was garbage and you are the first fool I have seen try to defend it.

"who cares if he clowns around as long as he comes to fight"

That is a contradiction in itself!!!

Personally I thought Augustus won the fight. Like I said he was the better fighter and dominated when he actually fought. I was just saying that he dicked around most of the last 6 rounds and I can see how the judges would be turned off by that. I think the guy is a professional jackass and if you don't object to his behavior in the ring...

I didn't defend the decision, I simply gave both sides of the story and my opinion of the fight.
You are obviously out to get me but what I don't understand is, if you are so good, why do you waste your time arguing with me?

See ya next week, grindstone!

"the bunker"
on a lighter note,i decided to take a medium shot with sam soliman at +150 vs raymond joval....already have the over tied into several parlays....here`s what i posted on another forum...
.................................................................................................................................

""""....... these guys fought once before in joval`s backyard.....and he squeeked by......

soliman has some losses but many are close....most to very solid european competition....

this one`s in california....no advantage that i can see for joval this time....

looks to me like the aussie soliman has been on a recent roll...he`s five years younger....and professes to want payback very badly...and at first blush, looks to have the better resume....

aussies.....anyone that`s schooled on these guys.....any opinions....

i`m thinking about going over 11.5 and taking soliman at +150....actually,i already parlayed the over 11.5 with the over in the niida/arambulet bout(it`s in already)and joel casamayor"""""""""""".....
.................................................................................................................................

got some feedback that soliman, although not a lock by any means,is at the very least,a fairly live dog.....

worth a shot in the dark...really need that over...
