while i was listening to the mets game the other night i heard the announcer say that they clocked tim wakefields knuckler at between 68-70 miles per hour. it made me think of a talk that jim kaat gave a while back on how a knuckler was thrown, he explained that a knuckleball is actually pushed towards home and not thrown like all the other pitches. i mean i've been to these amusement parks where they have speed guns and i am lucky to throw as hard as i can and get it up to 70. and most other people to, don't do much better. it makes me feel like these speed guns at the amusement parks are fixed. because how the hell can you push a ball 70mph? by the way his fastball was clocked at 78.

how fast have you been clocked at?

Those places at stadiums, carnivals, etc with the radar guns measure balls which are thrown for a far lesser distance than 60'6".

If I told you everyone would say he is blowing his own horn. Besides it was fast pitch softball not baseball. The distance was just less then 50 ft. Not as fast as a speeding bullet. But fast. I was young kid then 1973, 31 years old. If I tryed now my arm would fall off.
