Several changes for Friday night's Telefutura-televised Chargin/Fresquez-promoted card at the Isleta Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico: In the main event, WBC superbantam champ Oscar "Chololo" Larios (52-3-1, 35 KOs) has a new opponent. Angel Chacon (29-5, 15 KOs) has pulled out and has been replaced with Ivan Alvarez (19-13, 8 KOs) in a non-title ten-rounder.

Vargas pulls out! Due to illnesss, Mexican sensation Cuauhtemoc Vargas (12-0, 9 KOs) has been forced to pull out of the main event. Replacing the "Aztec Warrior" is his cousin, Adan Vargas (37-4-1, 23 KOs) who will face Julio Coronel (21-19-1, 16 KOs)

"the bunker"
a friend talked me into laying a little(and i mean a little) on velardez at -360....covered my cualthomec vargas/vanda over parlay and made me a case of beer to boot...

don`t feel bad...who thought a blown up welter was gonna stop vanda,in his backyard....a guy with very little power at welterweight,at that....

not me...i guess that`s why i was reticent to play velardez....because i figured he`d have to stop vanda to win in minny....and the guy wasn`t stopping bad welterweights....so,why is he gonna stop a full fledged jr middle...

i guess i`m kicking myself for not going heavier after seeing that vanda was a midwestern poser vs sam garr....

my second look at vanda hasn`t changed my mind.....he`s a stiff....certainly for a 31-0 guy...another midwestern poser from the ham n` egger circuit...

when i see a 31-0 guy that hasn`t even sniffed a fringe contender, the red flag goes up....and seeing him vs sam garr,i`m shocked that i needed a push to go against vanda...

this does screw up my plans for friday night,though....now that i know that "THE ALIEN" beats "THE PREDATOR"....

lol... :brows: :142smilie :142crying

I can't believe Velardez stopped Vanda. Going into last nights fight Velardez had won 6 of his last 8 by decision and had gone the distance in 9 of his last 11 against welterweights!!!

I knew Vanda was a protected fighter with very little power and even less skill as he showed against Garr. But I didn't play Velardez cause I couldn't get over his loss one year ago to Candy Robertson who is now 14-8. That fight was in Velardez' back yard and Robertson has now lost 4 of his last 5 (most by stoppage) with his one win being a unanimous decision over Velardez. He couldn't beat Robertson in California so I didn't see how he could beat Vanda in Minnesota.

With Vanda being a true light-middle and Velardez being a welter with very little power, I didn't see this one coming at all. Half way through the fight it looked like a winner for sure. Turns out Vanda is even worse than we thought and now we know he doesn't even have a good chin.

I was so pissed about this, I went against my golden rule. As soon as the ref waved off the fight, I went to 5dimes to see if the Dunne fight was still on the board...it was. I loaded up on Dunne at -410 and sweated my as off for 10 rounds untill they read the results of a very close decision in my favor. I actually made a little on the night but Dunne easily could have lost that fight and I would have been screwwed.

I forced a late play to make up what I lost AND played a heavy favorite, so I actually broke two of my rules. Got away with it this time, but I'll never do it again...I hope!
