It really was amazing, and haunting.
The sounds of the bodies landing everywhere is a sound I will never forget. Just really eerie.
Really captured the emotion and intensity of the moment, and a nice reminder of just what it is our guys are fighting for over there.
I was pretty speechless for a while afterward. The sounds of the bodies hitting the roof and courtyard affected me the most. However, I also got choked up when the firemen returned to the firehouse the next day and there was more food, boots and other items than they could ever possibly use. I was most touched by the little lady dropping off the bag of groceries at the firehouse. That moment really highlighted the strength of the human spirit and showed ordinary people rising to the occasion to assist in any way they could. Overall, an unbelievable glimpse into 9/11.
I'm sure CBS will re-show it sometime. If nothing else because of popular demand.
Guys, be in awe of all firefighters, not just NYC. These guys and gals...all of them, lay it on the line day after day.
Take care of your local fire station. Tell these men and women thanks for what they do. They will be the last to ask for thanks, but do appreciate it beyond what you could ever know.
