I know, Tech sucks against the run. Ark sucks against the pass. Arks strength on defense is their defensive line and steadily gets worse as you move back. Tech has a good offensive line this year so that should somewhat negate the dline of Ark. Well that and the pace that Tech will run in this game. Techs offense has yet to click but they've been very close. I give a pass to most teams during their first week because it's just that, the first game. Last week vs. UTEP they were very close to clicking. I think this week they come out and Webb lights up the Ark secondary for 500+ yards. In the 2nd half I also expect Tech to give the ball to RBs Washington and Frosh Justin Stockton. Stockton is fast on another level. Last week he had a 75 yard td run.
Now can Tech stop Arkansas? I don't think they will stop them but I do think they will be able to hold them on enough possessions to win the game. I'm making this play hoping Techs new JUCO DL Reki Levi is going to play. He was hurt 5 plays into the first game. He's 350 lb and will help plug some holes so the LBs can make tackles. In all honesty Arkansas is likely to have 250+ running. I just don't think that will be enough.
Lubbock is a tough place to play when it comes to big games. I know Arkansas has sucked the last few years but it's a name and OOC game against someone not named Sister of the Poor so I expect the crowd to be out of control and the players should respond.
