As u know, the World Cup starts soon in Sth Africa.
I'm going to be handicapping thruout the tournament. But I reckon we can all increase our profit if we put our heads together before the event starts.
What I'd love us to compile is a list of books that are offering lines on the World Cup and a quick rundown on the various options they have - plus of course, any immediate wagers that may jump out at you. Perhaps we could split books between a crowd of us so we don't double up on info?
Who else is keen to jump in?

Mate,
I will be watching your cricket plays and may play a few at Olympic.
I have 2 really good friends from S Africa that I went to school with. They follow the matches religiously. I will drop them a line and see if they have any perspective or insights for you.

*I remember the night that I learned the "finer points" of cricket. We were on a red-eye flight to Hawaii for a tennis match. I was teaching them about baseball. We got done and i said goodnight. They said no way-now you have to learn cricket. So I listened for 2 hrs. All I can remember is that it is ONE HELL of a long game and there are things called wickets. India is good and politics are involved. And they break for tea???

I'm in Anders

I know just about every bookie in Aust will be betting in the run on most matches. They also will have some interesting markets long term. Could be some great chances available

bookmakers:- world cup

bookmakers:- world cup

Firstly for our North American and Canadian friends a few books for tournament outright and groups.

Sportsinteraction
Olympic
Canbet

Best book for you all is bet365. This site will offer sub-lines which is where most bets will be played. Examples will be

PLAYER PERFORMANCE
HIGHEST 15 OVER MATCH SCORE
BOWLER PERFORMANCE
BATSMAN PERFORMANCE
HANDICAP LINES FOR THE LESS ABILITY TEAMS
IN RUNNING MARKETS

For the europeans all the usual sites will have markets, but once again the best I have found is Bet365 and Sportingodds.

I will post several plays a couple of days before the tournament starts. I am waiting for the I.C.C. (gouverning body) to come to their senses and make all games to be played in South Africa. Once again on the eve of a tournament, politics rears it's ugly head.

Thanx guys, all offers of assistance greatly appreciated and taken
I'm going to go searching today when I get a mo for a book that offers odds on teams making/not making the "Super Six". If Eng and NZ have to forefeit matches in Zimb and Kenya they are well behind the 8-ball for qualifying...
The ICC is torn between the dangers facing NZ and Eng and a massive political rift which has been threatening the game in recenmt years between the Asian sides (eg India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) and the rest, with both India and Pakistan saying today they would be happy to play games in Zimb...

Cheers again Pumpkin, I see a few books now have the early ones up...

Just been going thru the futures markets on things like top scorer at the tournament, top wickettaker, top performers in those categories for each team etc...

Will post a summary of the best odds I could find in the respective categories tomorrow along with a few leans; but still have a few more days of study to do before I commit more cash...
