just a serious question and not being wise ass....

but at some point with the offensive woes your team has dont you have to start changing your philosophy on offense at some point?...i know the higher up's dont agree with the bunting guys over philosophy...but seriously at some point you have to start manufacturing runs..maybe just to get a junp start on offense...your players walk enough i dont understand why your team doesnt bunt guys over more often especially with the lack of power in your line-up..

That was Macha's idea going into the season. The only person that can bunt on the team is Scutaro. I agree though.

Definetly agree.....but, in all seriousness this is the WORST offenisve performance to start a season I have seen for the A's in a long, long time. This club, just like the Niners in football, will go through tough times coming up here soon if not already and be rebuilding for awhile. If the hitting continues to struggle, ax the hitting coach first!! These guys are professionals and all can hit. Something is going wrong from the inside I feel and it needs to be addressed. I have never ever seen Chavez this unfocused before. Maybe he misses his old buddies who have moved on, but this guy hasn't looked with it from the start. I'm not a very big Macha fan...average manager at best. This team had their shot the last 4-5 years with all of the talent they had, but they haven't had a real winning manager since LaRussa IMO. They had the talent and players, but Art Howe wasn't a winner and never was one in his past as manager. They just didn't have that mix of winning manager/great players like they did in the late 80's.

They can play small ball when the fielders commit errors and the pitchers are hitting batters or starting them off 3-0, 3-1.
