I know it was last year, but...

Mississippi State lost to Troy State straight up 21-9 as 24 point favorites.

I have a hard time backing any team in a major conference that lost (not only lost, got wrecked) against Troy St. Just my opinion.

There is a good chance that MSU is worse this year than last year. They have a great leader and competitor in quarterback Kevin Fant, a fantastic linebacker in Mario Haggan, a terrific free safety in Josh Morgan, an electrifying kick returner in Ray Ray Bivens -- and not much else.

If Troy State is your measuring stick, maybe you should rethink ever playing Nebraska. They outgained the Huskers and easily covered against them this season. TSU also easily covered against Miami and Nebraska last year.

Temple beat VPI in '98, and the Hokies played for the national title the next year.
