Albany @ Maine -19.5/120.5
Albany is big inside and Maine has NO answer for that.....Both like to shoot the 3 ball, Maine is a tad better and quicker....They played twice on the year Maine winning both 67-60 @ Albany and 76-65 at the Cross Center....So why the fishy total of 120.5 when they scored 127 & 141 on the season, well I'm a gonna tell ya why....
The Bears play at the Cross Center in Bangor about 15-20 off campus depending on when they plow the roads, have since 2013 and before that at the Alfond Arena on Campus....Well the Cross Center has an event this weekend meaning no court time, so the powers that be decided to get nostalgic and play the game at the PIT....What's the PIT you say, well think about the movie Hoosiers and all those fish bowl gyms that are hot, dark and loud with very unforgiving rims....That's the PIT....During my High School days we played a few games there, it takes awhile to adjust the eyes for shooting, sorta like a mini Vandy court/stands....And loud, man can it get loud in there, Maine will have the band playing and about 2,500 fans rocking the hot, dry and dusty joint....Bonus ESPN + is gonna have the game on LIVE TV, what a HOOT!!!!
So it looks like some yahoo factored in the potential shooting issues, a major hat tip to him/her :0008.....Obviously Maine has a HUGE advantage having the ability to practice the last week on the court (fish bowl) but Albany is no fool and always plays Maine tough.....
Look for the Danes to go inside early and often for easy hoops and Maine to jack the 3's and run most of the day....19.5 is a ton of chalk for the Lady Bears, I think that number is off but a no play for me.... I like the OVER 120.5, a 69-57 Maine W seems reasonable and move on to play the winner of Stoney Brook & Hartford to see who goes dancing.....
GO LADY BEARS!!!!!!!.....GL all.....:toast:
