If I buy an item or two and if the change is under a nickel, I hand the clerk the required paper money, politely tell them to keep the receipt and the pennies, then take the items and leave the store.

Anyone else do this?

Every night I come home and empty my pockets and all penny's
go into my son's piggy bank....it makes his day and does add up...
in fact I will still bend over and pick up a penny laying on the
ground.....and every time I do, I think of my son.........just
thoughts from a daddy.....:)

I will pick up any coin I find if it is on tails but will not if on heads.
I take pennys in change.I think it goes back to my youth when I would ride my bicycle all day looking for soda and beer bottles that were worth 2cents back then---hard to break old habits:)

dtb,

I remember those days of riding my bicycle and looking for bottles worth 2 cents. Thanks for the memory.

I probably should have qualified my original statement by saying "there are times" when I bypass the pennies in exchange for occasional precious moments.

When "time is money", it's usually worth more than a few cents.

Just a note that has been worth numerous free meals over years.
Most people have aversion as Jack and I for one or the other. If playing pool always have opponent call flip for 1st break and remember it,always watch which side a player marks his ball on green as it it be same both times. In any event after finishing event if you go to eat, after finishing put coin under coffee cup opposite of what you have observed his preference and have him call it for tab.I quarantee you get free meal 90% of time.

I play golf a lot, and I always mark my ball with heads up... If I drop the coin by mistake an lands heads down, I will throw it away thinking it is bad luck.

As for change, I use to be very stingy keeping every pennie, but dont' bother with it as much any more, but it does ad up. I do try and save most my change, and sometimes get despert and use it for pizza or beer money.

On the course!
I pick a coin out of my pocket on the course, and mark my ball. I have never checked to see what side was up.

I also save my change every day, and place it in a jar for my daughter. When we fill the jar, we go to the bank and get about $50. I tell her, "Lucky you! Here's a crisp $10 bill!"

I take the other $40 to the track, blow it, and when I go home, I ask my girl if she wants me to order pizza. When she says "Yes!", I tell her to go fetch the $10!

I like the folks that leave there pennies at the check out at stores.
Then when I have say $4.02, due to tax. I just use there 2 pennies they left. That's nice of them. Mind go in a little jug I have had for years. Will cash them soon because they fill a 3.5 gallon can. Yes I said for years. Im guessing around 400 bucks. They are heavy to haul. This all started when I collect them for ones that meant more then a penny. That little collection was sold for a nice sum three years ago. So yes I did like those pennies. But once those I have left are sold. That's end of that. Then I will leave the pennies for the next guy at the store. ;)
