Our son turned 21 on Tuesday.... For his birthday he wanted to go to the casino in the city he goes to school at, hit a couple of sports bars and go out to eat, works for me....We grabbed a hotel room next to the casino and he planed on staying at his apartment.

We start off hitting a couple of bars for drinks, apps & wings....Next we do the walking trail around the river, 92 degrees out and humid...We finish up going out to eat then hit the casino at 8:30...We get there to find only 2 Bl. Jack Tables open and the Poker Room shut down...So slots were the only option.

After dropping a couple of hundred we headed back to the room to watch some of the Jazz game then we ran him back to his apartment...We got up the next morning did some shopping then headed back home, he wasn't sure if he was driving back or not....

He gives us a call saying he'd be home around 6pm and wanted to know if we were going to be around....He arrives and is real antsy, I was doing paperwork and didn't think much about it....He comes into our room and ask if he can get some advice, sure whats up?

So he starts telling us that when he got back to his place he drank some of the Fireball Nips his sister gave to him---no biggie---Then he says, I went onto the online casino at my sports book---I cringe---What did you do Trev? Well he says, I started playing Beano or Bingo I can't remember which----awww, ok---He then said he was playing $100 a card (he was up $550 in his account)...$100 a card, are you nuts kid!

I lost $400 right off the bat--really, I'm shocked!--Then on my last card I kidda hit a BIG ONE---0k, what's a BIG ONE Trev.? Well, I don't remember it was either a 210-1 or 2100-1 by hitting a Blackout...WHAT, how much did you win?....$21,000.00 but I got stupid and bet $4,000.00 on the Suns to win their series vs Denver and the Bucks to win over 1.5 games vs the Nets down 2-0...I just start laughing and see his account balance, yup he hit!

Today he transferred a nice chunk into Cryptocurrency and has a shot at still hitting his parlay...What a story he has to tell for years....:0008:0008:0008

We've had that conversation, not sure it sunk in though....Tried to show him how to hedge since the Bucks covered one part of the wager today....He has a chance to guarantee himself a $4,000 profit no matter who wins the Suns/Nuggets series....I'm told there is NO WAY the Suns lose 4 in a row....

Hope he is right.....:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Great story bud!! Tell him to buy 10 shares or more of stock in Danaher (DHR) also, and in 10-15 years see what he has. He will thank you later, as it will be a solid, fundamental investment with dividends paid to shareholders. I have 7 months until retirement from one of the Life Sciences and Diagnostics division companies. Hope you all are well and tell your wife hello also.

Nice hit for the birthday boy. You will never be able to convince him it doesn't usually work like that. He'll have to learn on his own like we all did.

The hedge would have cost him around $380 to guarantee a profit of over $4,000 no matter who won the series....He just got lucky in the Bucks game/series with Irving going down and JH out with injuries....Same could have happened with the Suns, it's part of the game.

In the end it was his money and his choice, giving him options at least made him think and look at it from both sides by eliminating risk...Some day he may use it to his benefit, who knows.....We all have stories of bad beats just glad it worked out for him.....:0008
