One bold gambler put a whopping $506,000 on the Browns to cover as 3.5-point home underdogs at a William Hill book at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.

That bet reportedly ran counter to the betting action for the game, with bettors heavily favoring the Rams. That 20-13 final score resulted in most sportsbooks taking a bath on what was apparently the heaviest-bet game of the season so far.

I wonder how much the line there changed after that bet ?

SBR Odds was showing $5 million on the Rams and $8 million on the Browns.

Average Rams ticket was $51 and average Browns ticket was $118.

More bets on Rams, more money on Browns.

So if that's true the books were actually rooting for the public team...

And the way the game went in the 4th quarter you start to wonder how much

influence Vegas has over the NFL.

When the Browns didn't punt ant went for that goofy 4th down I started wondering.

Browns was a big time anti-public play but this is probably one of those very very rare moments when the smart money loses.

Ouch! That's going to leave a mark!

If the guy could afford to drop 500k on a game I'm sure that's just a drop in his bankroll bucket. Probably the equivalent of the average joe losing a $500 bet.

BFL is a $500.00 loss actually a drop in the bucket to Average Joe.

I would think if we were go to the newly opened Sportsbooks across the country

Average Joe who never stepped foot in a Vegas sportsbook and mama would have never have allowed him to have any dealing with Smitty at the corner bar is getting a rude awakening at how hard it is to beat the man.

That shiny new toy called the "Family Playground" down the street to watch the games together and flush down some "cold ones" is a brand new experience for Average Joe now.

Just a thought in this very changing landscape of sports wagering now.

I haven't seen it for myself but hope to travel up North with the fellas to check it out.

Those who have spent some time in these new books please respond as I find the

subject very interesting ...To be sure the book management team will be studying it.

$500.00 is not a drop in the bucket to the Average Joe bettor in comparison to the guy who dropped the $500,000.00 ..

Average Joe bettor I would venture to guess is changing drastically across the country as these sportsbook open the the States ..

The ease of wagering for Average Joe now and with the added inducement of taking the wife to the newly erected or refreshed establishments has to generate new business.

The income range of those visiting these new locations and their frequency now with the shops
so close by I would think has surely changed Average Joe's Pocket Buster number .

Based purely on the Average Joe base being lower in funds available but larger in mass.

"dealing with Smitty at the corner bar"

A) not sure what my friday lunches have to do with this conversation and

B) i think you are absolutely correct. from what i've been able to observe, the majority of guys betting at our new casino have no idea what they are doing and a lot of them are betting $10 and $20 parlays. as if they were playing the sheet at work. "let me take the giants, rams, patriots, bears, steelers, chiefs, and ravens. hey, $10 will win me $652!!"
