Just talked with a friend in the program, the heels were supposed to fly out last night at 7 but all the flights were delayed because of the weather. They ended up taking a bus up to NYC, which left Chapel Hill at about 9 last night. They ended up stopping in Baltimore to pick up a player (who will remain unnamed, but gets significant playing time), although he wasn't at his house. To make a long story short, the bus waited at his house 3 hours and this player ended up getting home at 4 am. The team bus finally arrived in NYC at about 7 or 8 in the morning, and then practiced two hours later at 10. Needless to say, the guys looked pretty worn out from the long travel.

Use this info as you wish, I'm not sure what to think about it. The team did have all day today to catch up on rest and have tomorrow as well. Could see some tired legs tomorrow night, and at least 1 person on the team doesn't seem to be taking the game too seriously as he went out pretty late.

heels are laying 15 from what i've seen.

good luck in whatever you choose

Hudson Valley area.....NY
Saint, with the team Iona has showing up I don't think it will make a difference.Iona got 13 inches of snow. With their big budget they probaly had the players dig themselves out of the dorm.
I'll be in the city tomr.I'll be looking for the players in town.Do appreciate the info though. GL.But take the Heels tomr.

Jeff, nice research ;)

Personally, I think 16.5 may be way to much to lay. I wouldn't touch it either way. On the other hand, I don't see Iona winning outright. UNC usually shows up in New York, and after the way they performed during the Pre-Season NIT they will have all the confidence they need. There are a lot of displaced Tar Heels up near that area and they will have plenty of support, judging from the number of UNC fans at the Kansas/Stanford games. UNC has been coming out of the gates slowly lately, I can maybe, if anything, see a close game early with the heels pulling away in the 2nd half.

By the way, just saw this story from tarheelblue. At least for once I know what "team rule" was broken.

Scott to Sit Out Iona Game

Sophomore Guard Will Return to Lineup Saturday

Dec. 26, 2002

University of North Carolina sophomore guard Melvin Scott will not dress out for Friday night's men's basketball game against Iona due to a violation of team rules. Head coach Matt Doherty announced the suspension on Thursday evening from New York.

Scott is averaging 5.0 points per game and is second on the team in three-point field goals made with 10. He had eight points in last Sunday's 69-48 win at Florida State.

Scott will be back in action on Saturday against either St. John's or Manhattan. The Tar Heels are playing in Madison Square Garden in the Foot Locker/Holiday Festival.

Game times are 6:30 p.m. on Friday and either 3 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The games will be televised on Fox Sports South in North Carolina.
