From what I've read on the forum teams not used to playing at altitude are considered at a disadvantage when they visit these sites.
It appears that ~20 teams play at altitudes upwards of 2500 ft.
all the way up to over 6000 at Colo Springs.

How is this advantage figured in to the point spread and are some sites even a bigger advantage because they may have travel difficulties or some other factor?
Do you also consider time zones crossed such as maybe an eastern team going west to Denver?
Is there consideration to a team's next game after playing at altitude because of some fatigue effect coming back to their normal altitude?

Finally one of the regional site is at Albuquerque at ~5300 ft.
I would expect that if a team such as Utah played there they should be considered to have some physiological advantage over say Xavier.Has this type of match-up happened in a regional before and has it been a money maker.

I know this is along question and maybe presented simplistcally but would appreciate any and all responses.

Also thanks to all cappers who share their picks and ideas.

yes it is factored in when making the line, look at unlv game oped at a pick and moved fast to 1.5 then 2.5.

in the mt.west the road trip teams and coaches hate is the woyming, csu trip play at one the travel after game or next morning and play the other the following day.

the 2nd day teams tend to let down more then the first, its just so damn hard to breath and they crank the heat up to make it worse.

unlv would be a 5-7 point fav against csu on a neutral court and 8-10 at home but being at csu it came out as a pk and some places had unlv-1 but they changed quick.its like sucking air through a straw. and makes it tuff to rebound in 1 day and also if you are not use to it you get cramps and stiches.

if a team comes from the east it even makes it harder so yes utah would have a major adv at the pit if they get placed there against midwest and low alt. teams.

as for travel if you leave a good 24-26 hours before game its ok because as a coach you put your guys on time zone that you are going to a day before you leave so that sleep patteren isnot screwed up that even means changing watches and clocks, sounds stupid but it works.

for me i had an easy time going west to east then east to west as a player.

when it comes tourny time they will be there at least 3 days before to get body clock right but its hard to get breathing right almost impossable. also they start pushing water 2 days before and on the plane this helps out on jet lag. also o2 is a must to carry it helps out to suck close to pure 02 when feeling lite headed or weak.

but its a major adv to a high alt. team that is good playing teams around there own talent or even a step better.

as a baseball player there is nothing better the ball just goes, hell if i played at unlv or n.mex i would of hit 30 each year, had 17 and 22 my last 2 years in college in fl in 56 game season.:D

hopr this helps

Thanks for the quick reply fletch. It gives me some more things to think about.

Do you have any feel for how teams do when they come back home.
I think it was last week someone posted Purdue over Michigan partly because Michigan had just been at Colo St in OT and then played shortly after.
Was this fatigue effect common or was it just a coincidence?
Thanks again

the ot in high alt would make it tuffer to regroup if it was on 1 days rest, but not if it was any longer, that a tuff call on those 2 because they rate up there with wvu and va.tech
