wow, that's something else! :com: How did potripper get the other players to play so fast though? :mj07:

PXF is just generating the hand historys from the tourny, its not up to the normal speed that was going on during the tourny.

I have not played poker online in years (because I lost my arse.) I ran a online offshore operation way back in the day. There is absolutely no reason for the house to "fix" the game to benefit the house. The house already has the edge, but a shady employee or whatever could certainly taint a game. Anyone that has ever played online, including myself, has cried foul.... I've got a 20 Dealer has a 6 showing- stand- dealer has 16...BOOM - 5 - 21. What the f#$%&! Scam. No, that sh!t happens in the real casino all the time and people question it then. Even when its right in your face. I don't play table games- I don't know how to count cards. I'll stick w/sports betting and poker (poker in front of my face.) I prefer poker in local games over the casinos anyday.

Dr Fade: This is completely different. If you read the back story behind a few players at AP, you'll see they went from being mediocre players to winning hundreds of thousands of dollars in a couple months. Yeah, that could just be a miracle run, but the hand histories support foul play. Calling bluffs on the river without pair (or even an ace). It's not just one or two hands, it's dozens upon dozens. Not the types of plays you can make dozens of times and have their ridiculous results. Check out 2+2 for the full story. AP is investigating the accounts.

I used to love online poker (my site no longer offers it) but it was also frustrating. I loved the speed of it and the fact that I could just play at home, etc.

But you have a lot of stuff going on. I don't think the sites are "cheating" but I do think that its not the same as a real deck of cards. I think its a program and the program is made to make str8's and flushes hit more often, etc.

It encourages betting which leads to bigger rakes, etc.

You also have people colluding. Not always a huge advantage, but a significant advantage. Perhaps something my good buddy Belicheat would do. Ha.

I took it for what it was and had fun with it a lot of times. When I wanted a real game, I left my house and found one.

From Pocketfives:

AP to Admit System Was Compromised
by Adam on 10/18/2007 22:03

PocketFives just received a phone call from Absolute Poker confirming the suspicions of the online poker community over the past month. While we need to be vague in this post to respect their wishes, we can say that their systems were compromised, and that they are prepared to provide the details in a statement coming shortly.

Part of the statement will include a plan to refund players affected by this compromise.

We are extremely relieved to hear this outcome, as our most important goal in all this is to see justice given to those who were cheated in this process. Pocketfives is extremely proud to have played a part in the process of uncovering the impropriety that has occurred. We would of course like to thank all the other parties who played a key role in this process?specifically the folks that have been posting here and at twoplustwo.com.

This is great news for everyone. Keep your eyes out for the statement.

Extremely Relieved,

--Adam

====================================================================

There's no way this is fake. Adam from Pocketfives is very reliable and has been following this the whole way.

Though I have no further information at this time, here is what I'm pretty sure will be revealed:

Scott Tom, AJ Green, and perhaps others (maybe Brent Beckley) will be implicated in accessing a superuser account to cheat AP players out of ~1 million dollars. It will be revealed that STEAMROLLER belonged to Scott Tom, while POTRIPPER belonged to AJ Green. It remains to be seen if GRAYCAT and DOUBLEDRAG were compromised accounts or belonged to others formerly (or currently) affiliated with AP.

Hats off to 2+2 users Adanthar and Josem, along with Nat Arem of pokerdb for being such huge parts in solving this. Also props need to go to AP user "CRAZYMARCO" for coming up with the incriminating Excel file, as well as the top-level Limit Hold 'Em players on AP (Schneids, et. all) for helping bring the GRAYCAT story out to everyone's attention.

Thanks to everyone else who has helped and supported the cause here.

It's not quite over yet, but I think the end is coming quite soon.

The fallout shall be interesting, to say the least.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting us.

Absolute Poker Management wishes to inform the poker community of the
following information in response to the most recent claims posted over
the past 48 hours on the 2+2 and Pocket Fives forums wherein again it
is alleged that some person or persons breached Absolute Poker?s
redundant and varying levels of game client security. As was stated in
Absolute Poker?s Official Response released on Friday October 12, 2007,
Absolute Poker conducted an extensive investigation in response to the
claims it was made aware of and received. The results of that
investigation indicated that to the best of Absolute Poker?s knowledge,
information and belief there was no security breach. Specifically, Absolute
Poker?s internal investigation determined that it is impossible for
any person, device, program, script or other means to see hole cards.

Based on the most recent claims that Absolute Poker has been made aware
of and at the request of some of our players and business partners,
Absolute Poker has agreed to retain a widely acclaimed independent third
party auditor, Gaming Associates, to conduct an independent audit of
Absolute Poker?s security systems. Specifically, Absolute Poker has
requested that Gaming Associates conduct a thorough and extensive review
of Absolute Poker?s practices and security system?s to determine
whether it is possible for any person, device, program, script or other
means to see hole cards thereby gaining an unfair advantage.

Absolute Poker has agreed to fully cooperate with Gaming Associates and
its investigative team and to provide the above with unfettered access
to all systems, protocols and databases at Absolute Poker worldwide.
Absolute Poker has also agreed to allow Gaming Associate?s final
report to be made available to Pocket Fives and Bluff Media for their
review.

With respect to the claims that Scott Tom, a former Member of Team
Absolute Poker, is in anyway involved in wrong-doing, Absolute Poker has
requested a formal investigation into that matter as well. Mr. Tom has
not been involved with Absolute Poker for over a year and to the best of
our knowledge, information and belief has not had access to any of
Absolute Poker?s systems, databases or information.

Absolute Poker reserves the right to pursue any and all remedies
whether in law or equitable which may procure to it as a result of any
unlawful and injurious actions taken by any individuals who may have
falsified any information, documents, files, or have by other means attempted
to disparage and/or harm Absolute Poker, its Players, its current or
former management, employees, business partners or affiliates.

Absolute Poker shall bear all expenses related to such investigation
and is eager to learn about Gaming Associate?s findings. Absolute
Poker highly values and intends to protect its players, shareholders,
business partners, and affiliates.

Then after they were sent the YouTube link . . . . . . .

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting us.

Absolute Poker has identified an internal security breach that
compromised our systems for a limited period of time. The cause of the
breach has been determined and completely resolved. In addition, all
necessary resources, both internal and external, have been engaged to
ensure that this does not happen again. Our investigation is not fully
concluded, and we wish to thank the extended poker community for any
and all assistance related to this matter.

Game integrity has always been and continues to be of the utmost
importance at Absolute Poker. The Management of Absolute Poker is appalled
by these findings, and is committed to our players and to the integrity
of our site and the online poker industry.

All players affected by this security breach will be identified during
the audit process that has been initiated and all funds, including
interest, will be returned. Absolute Poker would like to apologize for
the recent events and is committed to diligently working with outside
security firms, auditing firms, the extended poker community and the
Kahnawake Gaming Commission to ensure that the situation is entirely
resolved.

A comprehensive statement will be forthcoming shortly, providing more
details of the findings.
