I remember taking physica and having to learn formulas for acceleration. It would seem to me that we should be able to use this formula to predict probably winners based on mommentum.

Anyone have the equation or do I have to go to the Physics Department at Rutgers.

thanks

Bill,

I had thought something a few months ago along the same lines. However, it did not have to do with Physics or acceleration but it was similar.

I had thought along the lines of statistical analysis, regression, probabilities, and confidence intervals based on a set of games with certain pointspreads, margins of winning, W/L ratio, etc.

Who knows there could be something there? Any experts care to comment?

I think gambling follows the rules of chaos theory more closely than anything, and those rules are pretty loosely defined. Chaos theory in its simplest form describes phase changes that are TOTALLY unpredictable, a result of the 'butterfly effect'.

In other words, there is no way to predict a winning or losing streak, nor the length of either.

Skinar, I agree that most is the buterfly principle; however, there is something to be said for streaks and momentum. We should be smart enough to quantitatively select winners with enough accuracy to beat the man consistently over the long haul. I just need to sit with people smarter than I to get it figured out.

I will keep looking and post here when I have something.
