I just ran the AdAware program. It located 34 files that it wanted me to delete(all were in cookies).

Can someone tell me in simple terms what the program found and why it is necessary to get rid of them?

Thanks in advance

Adaware helps find BAD type cookies that will screw with your computer.
Some web sites take over your homepage by automaticly inserting their own address
My kids used to find Brittany Spears type web sites and holy shit , it ruined my homepage (madjacksports.com :D ) I've also heard that adding software like adaware may lead to more shit taking over your computer, especially if your running 98' or older.
I've also heard good about adaware.
I'd say go ahead and delete thoose cookies that adaware has found and watch what the kids go to on your computer. Hope this helps

A cookie is a piece of text that a Web server can store on a user's hard disk. Cookies allow a Web site to store information on a user's machine and later retrieve it.

Web sites use cookies in many different ways. Here are some of the most common examples:

Sites can accurately determine how many people actually visit the site. It turns out that because of proxy servers, caching, concentrators and so on, the only way for a site to accurately count visitors is to set a cookie with a unique ID for each visitor. Using cookies, sites can determine:

How many visitors arrive

How many are new vs. repeat visitors

How often a visitor has visited
