If this is in the wrong spot, please remove. WHY are all these "celebs" going overseas to adopt? There are many, many, children here in the U.S. that would love to have a home with parents, brothers, sisters and some place they can call their own!!!! Not only do the celebs lead the way but from what I have read many people are going out of the country to adopt...are the rules and paperwork so bad here that it's necessary to go overseas? Please understand....I have no children and have never wanted any....this is just an observation. Thanks for VENUE TO b*&^%^&

If Sandra Bullock's new son helped prompt this question, a little more research is warranted. This adoption has been in process for several years because she specifically didn't want special consideration because she is a celebrity. The child is from New Orleans.

Two I would exclude from future adoptions, Madonna and Angelina Jolie, go to foreign countries because I doubt any US authorities would allow them to adopt. There is a lot of red tape and hoops to jump when adopting in the US and it often takes several years. I'm sure some people prefer to try to step things up and go abroad. Going to another country, however, doesn't always mean that things will be easier.

I have friends who were trying to adopt a child from Russia. When the husband was diagnosed with a heart condition, the Russian authorities refused to allow the adoption to continue. The couple divorced "on paper" and the husband underwent heart surgery. The wife went on to adopt the child as a single parent and once the adoption was complete, she and her husband remarried.

Go figure.
