They have them here for beginners and intermediate players. Before I check it out I was wondering if anybody here had experience in these leagues. I played a lot when I was a kid and even though I'm 62 I think it would be an excellent way to get some well needed exercise. Maybe I'm too old though.

What?

I checked the place out thinking that ice skating might be a good way to stiffen up but then I saw the hockey leagues. Might be fun.

My dad was about 60 and thought he would learn to ski. He was in the line to get on the lift, fell down and broke his leg real bad. In the lift line.

I know a guy in his early 40's that broke his arm playing in an adult hockey league.... Just thinking how bad the injuries would be for a guy in his 60's .....

if you have 60's crisis or something, get a tattoo or something safer :mj07:

but really, hockey is one of the easisest ways to get lifelong injury/ies specially
if there are players you don't know or who think they are Scott Stevens's

and yes, you better start taking those one mile morning walks like now,
those skates are not going to move themselves

but if you decide to go, please youtube it for us

cheers :toast:

About to start playing in one myself. Always and only played roller hockey growing up but my boys place ice hockey now and I'm tired of watching them, time to join. I think the biggest downside is the initial equipment purchase.

Exercise is always great idea, as long as you are fit to do so. Everyone should get at least an hour a day.
My suggestion is to check and see if they have a 50+ league. Those guys are usually just out there for a good time, to meet friends and have a few beers after the game. Very casual games. That way you don't get some 27 year old idiot that played junior in the AJHL reliving his glory days, and trying to take your head off.
I started playing Baseball again this summer at age 46 in a 30+ league, after 27 year layoff. I played slo-pitch during that layoff, but nothing compares to playing hardball. It was fun to challenge myself, and some of these guys could throw pretty fast with pretty nasty curve balls. I had a smile from ear to ear all season. Can't wait for next season.
Good luck!:toast:
