Well, week 2 is rolling around pretty quickly and we have two great games to look forward to on the weekend. Can see port bouncing back from last weeks disaster against the swans and sending the dons packing for the second straight year. Fletcher's suspension for 2 weeks for the second straight year in the finals is a big loss as they will now have to play Jacobs or Wellman on Tredrea, both of which are not as capable of fullfilling the job as well as Fletcher would. Should be a great game to watch though and I envy you guys back home who will be able to do just that. The second game of the week sees Brisbane at home to Adelaide who are coming off a huge win last week against the eagles and are near injury free. On the other hand, the lions have no voss, brad scott, and the his brother chris and ruckmen Keating are under injury clouds. Should be a ripper up there at the gabba but even with brisbane's mounting injury concerns, I like them to get it done and keep their unbeaten run at home in finals intact. Brisbane and Port for mine. Who do you guys back home like for the brownlow. Pawa, incentive, cristo, any ideas? Thinking about plonking some cash down on Buckley and Wanganeen. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think about this weekends games.

I think Adelaide is definately the play on Fri night. Unsure about the port/ess game at this stage.

I am confident enough to state that I will be playing Adelaide straight up, rather than taking the 14 or 15 points that is likely to be on offer.

I know Brisbanes finals history at the gabba.... and brizzy arent the side they have been + crows always play well up there. I see this game as the possible end of an era.

I will be jumping on soon as i see the crows as definate shorteners.

For the brownlow I like Peter Bell. I rarely bet on the brownlow cos im always wrong... so dont back belly!

Whats the opinion on the the weekends games?

the land of confusion
I'm liking Brisbane -13.5 over Adelaide despite injuries. Incentive... take the points mate I reckon. Port should also win.

As for the Brownlow Medal, I got on Wanganeen @ 7s a few weeks back and took Voss and Buckley for the place. Would expect the three to be thereabouts.

Christo......your thoughts please.

Taking the points is prob the smart idea, Ill have a better look at it closer to the game, see how i feel.

Wanganeen will certainly be a big chance seeing the francou has missed most of the year.

Cristo, I think Buckley had a better season than did Voss and Wanganeen's for especially in the first half of the season was impressive. Voss missed a couple of weeks with the knee and then took a couple of weeks to get back to his best form when he returned to the side. I think this period of about a month both missing games and recovering from injury may count against him a little. He's still the fav though so obviously the bookies think he's a good thing. Guess we'll see what happens come next week. Looking forward to hearing what you think after you have finished watching the remainder of the games though.

I think someone mentioned it earlier in the week but I just checked the forecast for tonight's game and it seems that showers are on the way late in the day. Considering the dons play the majority of their games at the dome in perfect conditions and have a shocking record in the wet over the past few seasons I would be laughing port all the way to the bank if the forecast proves correct. Staying away from it in the hope that the dons can produce the upset but if it rains, port is definitely the play you would think IMO. In addition to that, they have only played 2 bad games over the last half of the season (geelong and sydney last week) and it is hard to see them folding for the second straight week on home turf. Incentive, pawa, christo-any thoughts?

"...Quo fas et gloria ducunt..."
just wanted to pop in this thread and wish you guys good luck on the way to the finals......

i just had to stop wagering on AFL this season because of lack of time and I found that capping AFL takes too much of my mental time....it's not as easy as it seems, THAT and due to my lack of capping resources for AFL (one website stopped posting h/a stats...bastards!!!!), i've decided to quit while i was ahead....
I can't be capping a sport BLIND like i was for one week.....

so i'll end on a positive note again this season.

damn, i've been capping this sport for 3 years now....where has the time gone.....?

The dons crumble in the wet conditions yet again:mad: Could see that result from texas as soon as the rain was forecast! Should be a couple of solid prelims to look forward to next week and as much as I (and the rest of us who use this thread ) hate the pies, I hope they take care of the power next week. Wouldn' t it be great to see a grand final replay of last year!
