St Kilda vs. Sydney Swans M.C.G.
Friday 10 Sep 2004, 7:30 PM AEST

Geelong vs. Essendon M.C.G.
Saturday 11 Sep 2004, 7:30 PM AEST

Both games started close to take your pick,

money predictably has come for the swans, not sure I'd want to take the $1.80 on an away team against a decent side in stkilda,
it's kind of funny, I remember backing the swans at about $4.00 in about round 11 when saints were unbeaten at that time, went to that game, @SCG and swans won by plenty in an all the way win.

saints v swans will be a funny game..saints dont play the MCG to well, havent played well anywhere away from TDOME. sWans had a tough game in the rain against the west coast, were as saints got belted in brisbane...itll be interesting to see how the saints bounce back and wether they play well at the G, also keen to see how much that game in the wet took out of sydney....

teams tend to be very eager to respond well to floggings and i think the saints will do that here...

geeelong v bombers is another tricky game....bombers for me are over rated, just snuck into 8, just beat out of form melbourne and geelong are a much better team who will be keen to bounce back after poor effort in adelaide....ess played their grand final last week and there slow midfiled will be spent come game time this saturday...

the cats 4 me....

neither the saints nor the cats, will be seeing my money this week as there are too many variables 4 my liking...

good luck to those of u who will investing in the footy...

Surprised to see the dons as fav's here and although they are a team with much more experience than the cats, in regard to finals, think they are up against it this week. Scarlett will play his role in shutting down Lloyd and the midfield will dominate the ordinary one that makes up the essendon outfit. Think it will be a reasonably close game and if the cats can get past the pressure of performing in finals when it counts, they should be too much at the end of the day for the dons.
Thought sydney may go in to this one as dogs but as with the other game, they have volumes more experience than the sainters. Think they will win this game and send the saints packing in straight sets but it has the makings of great game. Swans IMO.

the land of confusion
I get Sydney coming up as a 'strong play'. Not overly keen myself but going with the percentages (38-16 / 33-21 ATS) for a small play.

A nibble on Geelong, especially if the rain comes down.

Impressive stuff by the saints last night. Apart from the fact that I was on the other side of the game, it is good to see them make the prelim after what has been a great season for them. Up the dons tonight!

No surprises last night. Good job pawa and beast. Port/brisbane grand final seems inevitable.

Your Bombers never had a chance Coops, despite the late flurry of goals in the last 10 minutes of the game. They were physically beat up on by a determined Cats outfit that was simply too hungry for the win. One of your blokes was knocked into next week by a ripper hip & shoulder!!! It was so good that his body left the arena on one stretcher buggy and his mind left on another!!

The Cats beat Brisbane the one time they played them this season on a wet Geelong afternoon.
Surely they couldn't.............

Nahhh!!!

as i expected, the sainst bounced back as did the cats...

IMO both of the better teams won on the weekend...

the odds for both games were are bonus for tipsters, as the performances of the saints and cats the previous week, really clouded peoples judgement, and the markets certainly reflected that...

ess were lucky to get over melb, they have the slowest and midfield out of the top 8 teams, geelong have been consistent for the last 10 weeks and then they met port @ home who would have flogged just about any1 coming here to Adelaide..a minor bump in there road to the grand final..

saints game was the same, their flogging to bris overshadowed what the saints are capable of, they got out to $2.20 or there abouts which i thought was greeat value, seeing as sydney had to go to melbourne, im not a fan of travelling teams, and they had a hard slog in the wet the week b4...

situations like these, were good teams see beeter odds occur after floggings and provide for some real opportunities, well done to those of you that were on the saints, and especially the cats..

Looking forward to seeing the hip and shoulder paw. I stuck to my theory of not betting against my team as I always do, but had I brushed my little system, I would have been right there with you guys on the cats. IMO, can they repeat their earlier form against the lions-no chance!
