the land of confusion
At last the Australian Rules Football kicks off for '03 with the pre-season knock-out competition starting on Friday night and playing itself out to its conclusion in 4 weeks time.
A lot of teams don't take this too seriously with the ones that do eager to bring home the prize money $$$

I'll be playing a couple of early props for outright winner of the Wizard Cup as follows.
1 point Port Adelaide to win Cup @ $6.25
1/2 point Collingwood to win Cup @ $12

1/2 point Hawthorn to win Cup @ $15
and a patriotic
1/4 point Kangaroos to win Cup @ $30

For Friday nights games I'm taking the two dogs in:
2 points Fremantle to beat West Coast Eagles @ $2.10
and
2 points Melbourne to beat Richmond @ $2.00

Mr C and Beasty, I await your thoughts!!!
:D

Adelaide Australia
Last couple of years I have avoided the Wizard Cup as I have found it very hard to predict and added to that this year is the new rule changes .

Have had a look at the first round and only one game stands out to me:

West Coast -5.5 d Fremantle

News from the west is that West Coast have a full squad to choose from while Fremantle have a number of injuries.

Sorry...mate...late posting....

Game underway, but don't know scores, I promise ;)

Taken Richmond -4.5.

Too tall in forward line...........Yze out for Melbourne.

No idea out West  :D

Will get back in morning when tomorrow's lines out ;)

Bad start.

I know it's only pre-season, but Richmond looked decidely ordinary. Forward line looks like it will struggle if Richo or Ottens don't kick big bags.

No great idea today......

Kanga's are crap, but Ess don't care much for pre-season.
Brisbane won't put out anywhere near a full side.

Why are St.Kilda favoured??.....Might have a little dabble @ Hawthorn +5.5.

Waiting for Geelong/Dogs line ;)

Results thus far: Melbourne 105 defeat Richmond 62
West Coast 100 defeat Fremantle 83

1-1 for me last night. Melbourne did it very easy and you're right MrC, the Tigers looked very average!! West Coast struggled to shake off a persistant Dockers outfit who were in it right up to the last 5 minutes. Critical turnovers cost them dearly when it came to the crunch.

Today I've taken a few nibbles as follows:
1 pt Port Adelaide Under 39.5 pts v Adelaide @ $2.30
1 pt Essendon -10.5 v Kangaroos @ $1.85
1 pt Hawthorn Under 39.5 pts v St Kilda @ $2.60

I too can't fathom giving the Saints favouritism

ahh...football......withdrawal symptoms finally subsiding!!!:D

Adelaide 78 defeat Port Adelaide 77
Kangaroos 119 smackdown Essendon 57
Hawthorn 82 defeat St. Kilda 59

I was a bit stiff with Port getting rolled on the last kick of the night with 2 left seconds on the clock!!!
My Kangaroos surprising me (and costing me) with a solid display against the Bombers. Hawthorn comfortably home.

2-4 so far @ -1.4 units but happy to have the two roughies still live into the second round.

MrC....I expect a retraction on that Kangas comment. We certainly won't be coming last this season as the books have priced us!!!
That position will be held by Carlton for the second year running.

Never bet on Essendon in the pre-season mate.

Haven't won a game for 4 years now ;)

Very stiff with Adelaide

But I do agree Carlton will be proping up the ladder again.....Did you see the game v. the Aboriginal All-Stars?? :D
(It was a comprehensive flogging if you didn't see it!)

Just looked at tomorrow's odds.................

Collingwood 1.62 @ Centrebet to beat the Blues

Doggies 1.95 to beat Geelong

The Magpie website claims that they will be virtually at full strength for this game against Carlton.
Books are playing it safe in most games but this one is priced very wrong!!!

:director: Collingwood = $$$$

Last seasons runner-up versus last years (and this years :D )
wooden spooner!!!

Thanx redking but at rugby union I'm a coat-tailer of the other guys here and the rugby league I'm a small player of the local australian league at best. AFL is my main play and my BIG SYSTEM plays will be coming up in a few weeks.
This is where the $$$'s come from. :D

Stay tuned for that.
