AFL: Round 1

Here we go again for another year of our beloved footy down under. Christo, pawa, time to come out of hiding and fire it up for yet another season. Can't believe how quick the off-season goes as it seems like yesterday that the swans snuck passed the eagles in a gem of a final last year. See if we can start the year off on a positive note this year. Looking at a few games that grab my interest this weekend.
Hawks -4.5 vs Richmond. -Hawks showed decent pre-season form and the tigers, well, they're the tigers! We (the bombers) handed them a drubbing last weekend in our final practice match! Hawks to start the season off with the W here.

Essendon pk vs Sydney. -Bombers beat sydney in both pre-season practice matches (not that that means much) and it will be interesting to see if the grand final hangover continues with the swans early in the season. My thinking is that it does. No Hird (thanks paw) but more than enough young guys coming thru that will help the bombers start with a win this weekend I'm hoping.
Looking at 2 other games as well. Can't wait for tomorrow nights' opener which has the makings of a great game. GL this year to your respective teams fellas and finally........ up the dons!

Just having a squizz at the lines and two games jump out at me.

West Coast v Saints tonight kicking off the season opener over in Perth. Both teams have had an ordinary pre-season in the last few weeks. Saints very poor historical form over in the west.
Coasters -11.5pts looks the go to me (small)

The other game is Christo's Bulldogs v Richmond. Bulldogs are hungry and on the rise. Richmond are....umm....well....Richmond!!

Anything can happen in the first few weeks so no need to get carried away.

A good hard game to start off the season. Coasters home by 18 pts. Some freaky shit like Reiwolt diving over the fence into the crowd and the boundary umpire getting kicked in the head with the footy certainly made it entertaining!!


Christo........if you aren't confident on your Bulldogs getting up, I'll cut my play back to small. We all tend to know our teams! I had marked the Demons -22.5pts down as well but not sure just yet whether I'll take em either!

Not sure if it was the long day at work the other day or the drinks that followed that led to my incorrect write up on the hawks/rich game. lmao- shocker! Anyways, I meant and took the dogs against the useless tigers tonight and will also be on the hawkers tomorrow just to clarify things. Nice win by your doggies tonight C. Interested to see how they fair against some of the decent clubs in the league........like the dons! lol!
BTW, you think the dons will struggle this year hey paw? I reckon they may go OK with some of these youngsters coming thru. Time will tell. On to the saturday games!

Welcome back to the new season. Hope everyone had a great offseason.

Nearly had a win on the NAB Cup with Adelaide to win the cup at 7.50 but stupid me didn't put a covering bet on Geelong at 3.70 in the final and lost the bet.

Not much to go on in Round 1 so far and have avoided a play so far. My only play is as follows:

I actually tipped the Kanga's but didn't lay down any $$.

Beautiful sunny, still day down herre in Launny, so weather won't be a factor at all today. Still a bit chilly (would be 14-15 I guess), but over-all a great day.
Will probably favour Freo, but they have a shocking record down here...I've tipped the Hawks so hopefully they can get up. (Sorry beast!)

Only problem is that we won't get it on tv live...oh well, will sit and watch the stats tick over for for fantasy team anyway....

Next week is a HUGE disappointment for me...I was all set to oppose the Saints, 'cause I think their forward line is REALLY struggling with Kositski out and Hamill not 100%...but look who they play!! Damn it!!

Surely Melbourne is the play for later today...surely....
