Finally the footy season is apon us and the lines for round 1 are on the board.
Should be a big crowd at the 'G' on friday night as collingwood take on the tigers. On collingwoods form throughout the preseason like them alot straight up at 1.50.
The roos look value against a saints side which has struggled over the last few seasons and should continue to do so this year.
Think the roos may be a little more competitive than everone thinks and like them at -3.5.
Finally, it seems early on that all the money is going on brisbane to beat the dons on sat. night and although they will most likely win the game the dons may be value right before game time if the line (currently 27.5) continues to slide.
What do you other footy fans think about this weekends matches?

the land of confusion
The first week of AFL is upon us and due to "loading up" on my system plays (that kicks off in Week 3 - see seperate thread!!) in the weeks ahead, I will be alot more prudent with my personal selections during the season. Trimming down the number of plays considerably.

I can only see one real stand out selection in this first round and I'll say it loud for the people down the back.....
:director: KANGAROOS!!!!
Now I can hear MrChristo already saying...."but PAWA...they are your team....your betting with your heart instead of your mind....your judgement is clouded son!!"

"Yeah....the mighty Kangaroos are my team....and thats why I know them so well" I respond.

Kangas play St.Kilda at the MCG on Saturday. The same St.Kilda that have lost to us for the last 7 encounters dating back to 1998!
By an average margin of 34 points each time. We "own" this team.

Taking the Kangaroos -5.5 points versus St.Kilda for $1.90 @ CENTREBET ** 5 units
And you can take that one to the bank!! :brows: :firing:

.......oh...by the way....the Kangaroos played St.Kilda two weeks ago in a practice / warm-up match and won by a lazy 120 points!!!
Yeah.....sure it was just a practice match but the Saints can't improve that much.
The Saints "know their role" on saturday arvo.

Pawa. With you on the roos mate! Pagan or not the roos should be to good for the saints at the 'G' this week.
Question: I used to live in brisbane and buy inside football every week but have lived in texas the past 3 years and therefore cannot get a hold of it. Do they have a website that you know of?

Am I missing something but does Port look great value. They have a fantastic record winning the last 5 games a t Subiaco and only losing 2 of the last 6. they have also won their last 5 games verus the Eagles

Are Port riddled with injury?

Pumpkin. Port do look like value but beware the early round interstate away matches as it usually takes one or two home games to get settled. West coast at home on a warm afternoon is not that easy a task. However, wish you the best if you take them.

I looked at Port and their record but was scared off by some injury concerns that they have and the fact that West Coast are virtually full strength. i would have taken some points with Port but couldn't find any on offer.
I'd stay clear mate.

That surely doesn't sound like me at all!! :lol2

Knowledge of your own team is a wonderful (and profitable) thing.
Got my Doggies wrong only 3 times last year ;)

Hour and a half until teams released...........

Noticed that all the money has been going in Richmond's favour for tonights match due to the maggies' suspensions and injuries. Still think collingwood will have too much for them in the season opener and will earn those of us taking them some early season $$$.

not too familiar with afl....but is -10.5 and +17.5 a good middle opportunity? seeing those numbers for the collingwood match.

Collingwood can be had for -8.5 ;)

But, saying that, I like Richmond tonight.

Looking at last years game in which Collingwood won by 40 points.

Virtually identical possessions, clearances and rebound stats, Collingwood however had a 20+ tackle count, and more importantly 10+ Inside 50s,

A quick look at the Richmond engine room sees King, Hilton, Kane Johnson, Blumfield and Fiora where ALL missing from that game....Only Knights and Chaffey out for this clash.

Collingwood will be without Burns, Licuria, Cloke and Steinford, but now have Buckley, O'Bree, McGough and Woewodin. It can be argued more class has been inserted into the side, but the 4 ins have a whole lot less hard ball gets than Burns and Licuria.

Richmond have a BIG chance to control this game in the middle (esp. with Fraser out)...Only problem I see is them kicking enough goals with Ottens out, but Presti out for Collingwood evens that up somewhat.

@ 2.90 from 1-39, Richmond definately worth a shot IMO.

Good win by the pies without 5 key players. Pawa, looking forward to your roos following suit today -4.5. Definitley looks to be the value pick of the round especially taking into consideration the preseason form of both clubs. Go roos!
