Hi Guys,

Round 12 of the AFL is a split round with 4 games being played this weekend and 4 games being played next weekend. This will provided a much needed rest for some players (and some cappers !!)

Unfortunately I won't have time to do a decent write-up on each game this week mainly due to work (and also spending hours studying the form for the US Open). I have posted some very quick comments under each game.

Friday June 15 7:40 PM AEST
Essendon $1.14 (-36.5) vs Adelaide $5.00 (+36.5)
Colonial Stadium

Following a couple of mediocre matches by their standards Essendon are due for a big game. I do have plenty of respect for Adelaide who have put together a nice run of form. I think the line is about right and no play on this game.

Saturday June 16 2:10 PM AEST
Geelong $2.05 (+5.5) vs Western Bulldogs $1.75 (-5.5)
Shell Stadium

Geelong are on the improve but their form is still not convincing when you look at who they have played well against. Wstn Bulldogs impress me and they bounced back with an easy win over Adelaide last week. I think the Wstn Bulldogs are too good.

Playing Wstn Bulldogs $1.75

Saturday June 16 7:40 PM AEST
Fremantle $2.00 (nl) vs St Kilda $1.75 (nl)
Subiaco

What a boomer game with the 0-11 side facing the 2-9 side. Fremantle are not backable at even money against any team. St Kilda did play ok in patches against Essendon last week but I can't back them odds-on playing over in WA. No play on this game.

Sunday, June 17 2:10 PM
Melbourne $3.35 (+23.5) vs Brisbane $1.30 (-23.5)
GABBA

Melbourne are not playing well losing 4 from their past 5 games. Brisbane are an inconsistent side but do know how to play good footy at the GABBA. They will still have the win over Essendon fresh in their minds. I think Brisbane can win this quite easily and cover the 4 goal spread.

Playing Brisbane -23.5

SUMMARY OF PLAYS:

Wstn Bulldogs $1.75
Brisbane -23.5

Good luck to everyone. Lets see if we can get back in the winners circle following a couple of disappointing weeks.

I hope I am not jinxing us again but have to agree with Cartman88. The Bulldogs were excellent against Adelaide and should account for Geelong. I have no idea what Melbourne are thinking play a home game at the GABBA. After Melbourne performance on Monday you have to back Brisbane

Plays:
Western Bulldogs -5.5
Brisbane -23.5

season to date 16-18 pick 4 1-2 +1.05

Picks
W.Bulldogs -5.5
St.Kilda N/L
Melbourne +23.5(If Schwarze plays)

With what has been said in the papers and what happened on the footy show with newman and shwarze I expect a pumped up Melbourne to give Brisbane a run for their money but may not be good enough to win.If schwarze passes a fitness test I would not like to be his apponent as he may have a point to prove.

Any one else see the footy show when sam threw a pie in Schwarze's face man was he fired up.If the producer's new about it it was a disgrace to belittle a player like Schwarze who wears his heart on is sleeve.I am surprised he only pushed Newman to the ground. When I bet he felt like pounding him

Pick4
Essendon
Bulldogs
St.kilda
Brisbane
for a price of $4.41

Goodluck to all as a group we need a turn around ( I am thinking about letting my Dalmation put my tips in for the tipping comp I am in at work)

Just one pick for the weekend for me ... and it's a popular one

Bulldogs -5.5

OK, some doubt in backing road chalk but the Dogs should have a distincty edge here. The Cats have got some confidence back from a reasonable run of late but have two big headaches for this one - key ruckman Steven King out injured and goalsneak Ronnie Burns suspended. King will be replaced by Mensch in the ruck and could really struggle thru-out the entire match v Luke Darcy. And while the Cats claim they excelled without Burns recently, those wins without him were only against a slumping Richmond (at that stage) and winless Freo. The Dogs showed they could win without flooding last weekend in fine style and at less than a goal are good value.
PLAY WESTERN BULLDOGS -5.5

Liked the Lions initially but was hesitant that the Demons would be keen to prove a point after last weekend's fiasco. The "pie" incident has simply given them more motivation. No play for me. Freo v the Saints anyone

As a neophyte to AFL,I must ask this question.
As I was following the Brisbane-melbourne game on a text commentary,I noticed a strange stat.
Is Yze from Melbourne AFL's answer to Allan Iverson? As I'm writing this he is 2.1 off of 25 dispersals. Most of the other scorers had better percentages. Lynch for Brisbane was 7 for 8, I believe.
Is this normal or just a bad day at the office? Thanks.
Congrats on the weekend.

sorry proline didn't see your post
I hope this will make sense to you
Lynch's main aim is to kick goals so most of his kicks he will be shooting for goal
Yze is a midfielder and plays all over the ground. His main aim in the game is to get it down the ground to the forwards.Only a small percentage of his kicks would have been aimed at kicking a goal. Some players can have 30 plus possesions and not have a shot at goal (it all depends on what area of the ground they play in).I hope this makes sense to you.

A perfect first week to the split round going 7-0. Lucky we all got the Bulldogs at -5.5 or it could have been a very different result as the line was around -10.5 by the time the game started at some places.

Summary of Plays
gloveski 2-0 and a pick 4 with odds of $4.41

Nice effort from everyone this weekend to get the AFL tipping back on track. Its a relief to see a few games finally going according to form.

Hi Guys,

Here is a quick rundown on the remaining AFL matches for Round 12.

Fri 22 June Colonial Stadium 7.40pm AEST
Collingwood $1.16 (-36.5) vs West Coast (+36.5)

Collingwood have been in solid form of late winning 3 of their last 4 matches. West Coast were respectable against Brisbane last week but overall their form is poor and they have lost their past 7 matches (only wins were vs St Kilda and Freo). Collingwood have Buckley back and should win this won easily, however I am not going to back them giving up 36 points. For some reason Collingwood have a bad habit of under achieving against sides they should hammer.

Sat 23 June MCG 2.10pm AEST
Hawthorn $1.75 (-5.5) vs Kangaroos (+5.5)

Hawthorn were awesome earlier in the year as they put together 8 straight wins. They then lost to Essendon, Port Adelaide, and Geelong (although many players missed that game). A lot of people seem to have written Hawthorn off already but I still think they are a solid outfit. This week it seems likely they will be getting Chick, Crawford, Rehn, Barker, and Holland in the side. Kangaroos have looked good in recent weeks winning 4 of their past 5 matches. The latest I have heard is that Carey is unlikely to play. I think Hawthorn will bounce back and win this one.

Playing: Hawthorn $1.75

Sat 23 June Colonial Stadium 7pm AEST
Richmond $1.55 (-13.5) vs Sydney $2.40 (+13.5)

Interesting matchup here between 2 teams who have regained credibility after mid season slumps. Richmond impressed me against Carlton and the key for them could be injury concerns with Richardson, Kellaway, and Hilton. Sydney looked really good against Collingwood and Port Adelaide and likewise they have injury concerns with O?Loughlin, Schauble, Cresswell, and Dunkley. I do favour Richmond slightly at home so I think they line is about right here. No play on this one unless there are some significant changes with player inclusions/exclusions.

Sun 24 June Footy Park 2.10pm AEST
Port Adelaide $1.65 (-9.5) vs Carlton $2.20 (+9.5)

2 of the top 4 sides face each other in what should be the best match of the weekend. Port Adelaide are always hard to beat at home, and will be keen to put their woeful performance against Sydney behind them. They will also be looking to play a big game for Wanganeens 200th. Carlton have been patchy this year but often produce a big match when they really need to. They may struggle to match Port Adelaide for pace and players such as Camporeale and Koutoufides need to produce big games. I favour Port Adelaide slightly with the home ground advantage but once again I think the bookies have the line correct. No play for me here.

Summary of Plays:

Just the one bet backing Hawthorn @ $1.80 with Qld Tab

Thank god I opted to take the safer bet on Hawthorn and back them straight up rather than -5.5 points. Hope everyone else got lucky and did the same !!!!
