Just one play for me on the AFL this weekend:

Hawthorn -15.5 @ Canbet vs Sydney

Hawthorn started the year 8-0 but then struggled for a few weeks with so many players on the injured list. Most of their best players are back in the side now (especially Shane Crawford) and they are starting to look impressive again. I thought they looked very solid in beating Richmond by over 50 points last week. Hawthorn are still in 2nd place on the ladder and will be keen to secure this position with the finals getting nearer.

Sydney on the other hand have shown glimpses of brilliance but are very inconsistent. They have lost 2 of their past 3 matches although they did beat Carlton last week despite some very wayward goalkicking. They have lost Jason Ball for this game after he was suspended for one week due to making contact with an umpire. I have real doubts whether Sydney can kick a matchwinning score against a tight Hawthorn defence.

I expect Hawthorn at home to easily cover the spread here.

I have a slight lean towards:

Carlton -27.5 vs Melbourne
Port Adelaide -14.5 vs Richmond
Essendon -38.5 vs Geelong

I will look at these games in a bit more detail and see whether they are worth playing.

rosebery,tasmania,australia
season to date 24-20 (54.5%)
pick 4 +4.46

Hawthorn -15.5
Even as a Swans supporter this game stands out Sydney just don't have the Forward line power to trouble hawthorn. In the midfield is Sydney's only chanve but with Staffordd really struggling and cresswell's first game back from injury in which he should be underdone can't see sydney getting within 30.
One interesting point is that sydney has never played hawthorn at the m.c.g according to the tabloids.Traditionally though sydney really struggle against the hawks in melbourne.

Carlton -27.5
Expect Carlton to bounce back in a big way with kouta, camporeale and ratten leading the way

Port Adeliade -15.5 (If Primus and Kingsley play)
three prime movers come back for port in primus, kingsley and francou.Should have to many runners with speed for richmond Paxman play's his 200th from memory and has stated their will be no celebrations unless port wins.I think Richmonds bubble is about to burst in a big way but having said that if a team is to burn you in a big way Richmond will

Also like a pick 4 this week
Hawthorn
Carlton
Port
Essendon
for a return of $3.11 for a $1 wager
All lines and pick 4 are from canbet

goodluck to all

should now better than to bet on a game that involves my own team Sydney.Looked to hard at Sydney's flaws and brushed over hawthorn's.Will not make another selection that involves Sydney again

and carlton could not even win let alone cover Aussievamp2 spot on the money I take my hat off to you.

Results so far:

Adelaide 156 St Kilda 59
Sydney 98 Hawthorn 77

Melbourne 117 Carlton 111
Wstn Bulldogs 119 Fremantle 85
Port Adelaide 96 Richmond 52

Looks like one of those weekends where the games are not really going to form. Very surprised to see Sydney and Melbourne win their respective games. I have had a look through todays game and have decided to have one more bet.

Essendon -37.5 vs Geelong

Melbourne not too surprising, beat them last year, and key forwards = 0, Melbourne were a bit lucky I guess, but would not call it that surprising

Sunday results:

Essendon 127 Geelong 112
frown.gif

Brisbane 129 Collingwood 103
Kangaroos 154 West Coast 110

Essendon looked like they were going to blow Geelong away on a few occasions but never got more than about 35 points in front. They relaxed late in the game and only won by 15 points (not enough to cover the spread).

Brisbane finally put up a winning performance in Melbourne and they are starting to look like a possible Grand Final team if they can avoid injury with their key players.

Disappointing weekend on the footy. I will be cheering on Jeff Sluman (who I backed at 30-1) to get home in the golf for me tomorrow.
