2005 continues to be one of the toughest AFL betting seasons I can recall in recent years - but still a few rounds left to turn things around.

My plays for this weekend:

Essendon +15.5 vs Geelong
Adelaide -16.5 vs Sydney
Port Adelaide +11.5 vs Kangaroos (2 units)
Collingwood +12.5 vs Fremantle
Carlton +22.5 vs Richmond

You're a brave man playing 5 games this week I reckon, Cartman!

Kangaroos -6.5 (1.87)

When I first saw the odds this week, my initial thought was Kangaroos are a bargain at 1.65....I figure they should be able to cover a goal or so.
Based mainly on Port's awful away record this season. They've won just 1 of 7 interstate trips (losing at an average of 45 points!), and even the game they won they had 10 less inside 50's and 2 less shots than St. Kilda on a neutral ground in Tassie.
In those 7 away games, Port have averaged 12.2 less inside 50's than their opp, going inside just 41 times themselves, which won't win you too many games.
Kangaroos have been good lately, being +9.2 inside 50's in their last 5... 3 solid wins and 2 close losses to the top 2 teams.
Port have never beaten the Kangaroos in an 'away' game, and I don't expect them to this time either.

At least we agree that has been one crappy season all 'round! :cursin:

I do like the Crows to win, but covering a spread always scares me!
Starting to like Freo the more the line drops. I know it's Buckley's 250th and all, but I just don't think they have the cattle on the park to compete. Freo just about back to full strength with Matthew Carr back. They really should win easily....

Good luck guys.

the land of confusion
Yeah, was thinking that a 2 unit play against my Roos was abit of a gutsy play!! Especially at our "2nd home" venue against a Port side that is struggling away this season. They have also been our "bitch" throughout their short history despite their good win against us last time 'round. I'm confident we win this by 20 or more.

Buckley's 250th is the only thing that scares me away from taking Freo. Stay clear I reckon.

Cats to win well tonight. What about Melbourne Under 39.5 at long odds against the Saints!! Surely they are due for a win and the Saints to drop one even with the big inclusions.

No Express plays for the second week in a row!!! :cursin:

Good call on Essendon last night Cartman.

I'm starting think you have been right about these Cats all along!! They were impotent up forward despite more inside 50's and more scoring shots. They are in some trouble on the run home.

Looking at my stuff I'm thinking the Roos are the play of the weekend.

What a season it has been thus far. The only thing that has unraveled according to plan is a Richmond fade-out as the season has progressed. Back-to-back wins by your doggies christo against what was supposed to be decent opposition has them peering into the 8 all of a sudden. Even though it seems you may have had a rough weekend paw, I'm sure you were fired up to see your boys get across the line today mate. Having more of a chew at the cats for the flag paw, now that they're odds have blown out once again??

Yeah nice work Cartman.

Is this the first week that the Bombers, Bulldogs and Roos have all got home?!!

Essendon actually looked like a football team during parts of Friday night's game!! The Bulldogs gave up a 40 point lead to Brisbane only to take it back again!! Then my Roos come from 1-27 during the first qtr....21-61 at the half to go on and win 100-96!!! WTF?!! I'm glad I didn't turn it off at halftime like I was about to! My missus gave me a spray for yelling too much in the last few minutes....or was it for unplugging the vacuum when it entered the room? I had em every which way but loose...but it doesn't hurt as much after a victory like that.

Cats are out to 16s now Bomber and they may as well be 50s!! They stink and I'm off 'em!! :nooo:

Pulling the Vacuum out of the wall was probably the reason paw! I was going to suggest the same thing in regards to the dons, dogs, and Roos all winning on the same weekend. Yep, was happy with the dons intensity on Friday night and they actually ran out a game!! WTF! I think the roos win all but ensured the inevitable end of year prize for you paw. Christo, what's on your shopping list? Instead of some club memorabilia, I was thinking a ticket to next years dogs/dons game might be more suitable mate! Thoughts?
