Early leans in this weeks AFL:

Kangaroos $1.80 vs Geelong
Carlton -7.5 vs Adelaide
Bulldogs -6.5 vs Collingwood
Essendon -18.5 vs Sydney

I am really keen on Essendon this week. I would certainly prefer to have Lloyd and Hird on the paddock but in their absence I expect most of the other players to take on more responsibility and perform very well.

Coming off 2 losses they have plenty to play for especially considering Brisbane are only 1 win behind them now.

There are a few similarities to the Round 4 clash between these 2 teams. In that game Essendon were coming off a loss to Carlton and were missing Lloyd. Sydney had just put a few wins together and looked confident. Essendon won that game by 47 points. That was at the SCG and this one is at Colonial.

It is rare you see Essendon only giving 3 goals head start and this seems the right time to cash in.

2: port adelaide
don't think St.Kilda's got what it takes to beat this team that's rising up the ladder...

3) Lions
the hottest team in the league right now..right on the heels of essendon..don't think they're gonna give up for the rest of the season.

4) West Coast
fremantle got their win for the season.

5) Melbourne
Hawthorne may be hurting more than they're letting on.

6) Bulldogs
Bulldogs are a good team on the road...and collingwood seems to be losing steam as the season wears on...

good luck to all.

rosebery,tasmania,australia
season to date 30-24 (55%)

kangaroos -4.5 (canbet)
kangaroos will be smarting after last weeks showing, a proud club who have not lost 4 in a row since 92.Shannon Grant play's his 150th and Carey,Rocca & mckernan surely will not be kept goaless two weeks in a row, and with king back (who i rate as the roos most important player)expect the roos to keep their slim finals hopes alive.Burns out for geelong also makes the play on the roos look stronger

Brisbane -28 (canbet)
Brisbane keep covering the spread at home and with a chance they could finnish top they won't let this one slip.

Bulldogs -6.5 (canbet)
I will stick with my statement that the pies would not win again this season their young players are mentally drained and Buckley is starting to struggle with injury.Only worry is that the bulldogs played a day game in brisbane last round.

west coast -11.5 (centrebet)
Expect this one to be tight west coast's older heads should get them over the line against the inexperienced Dockers

goodluck to all this week also like essendon but promised myself i would not wage on a game that involves Sydney again this year.

Oh mad alive there is so much stuff going on. Now NFL/NCAA about to go into full action. As one of your lurkers I must say I have had great rewards. You guys are Dam Good. Im still going to check back in now and then. I wish you all great luck. I must go and pay attention to my USA style football. Im slowing down a bit. You may to when you get close to that 60 mark.

djv,

This certainly is a busy time of year especially with the US footy about to get started and the down under footy heading towards the playoffs. Unfortunately there are not enough hours in the day to cap everything.

Good luck with the NFL/NCAA this year and I am sure a few of us will be following your picks with interest.

After a promising start to the weekend with the Kangaroos winning everything went downhill on the AFL. Ended the weekend 1-3 which included a 2 unit loss on Essendon.

The pain was fairly short lived though as Kenny Perry at 60-1 wins the Buick Open !!!!
