Very quiet night at the tribunal last night with only one player (Josh Francou from Port Adelaide) facing charges. He was cleared of striking and will be available for this weekend.

Early leans are:

Essendon -10.5
Collingwood -10.5
Port Adelaide -7.5

Prefer not to back the favs but this is what I like at the moment. Will have a decent look at the games and be back with some plays later in the week.

Have decided to back the three teams listed above now as I have a feeling the lines may move against me later in the week.

Playing:

Essendon -10.5 vs Richmond (1.5 units)
Collingwood -10.5 vs West Coast (1.5 units)
Port Adelaide -7.5 vs Melbourne (2 units)

May have a couple of other plays but will look at these further and post them later in the week.

the land of confusion
Year to date 2-2

Let's roll with some round 2 plays-

I'll have West Coast +15.5 thank you very much!!
Served up with a side of Western Bulldogs +12.5
and washed down with gallon of Port Adelaide -10.5....

Coasters on a gut feeling, Bulldogs playing Kangaroos coming down off the high of last weeks upset victory and with this weeks announcement of their "Team of the Century"bound to pump them up. Port too good to drop 2 in a row.

This weeks "poo-poo platter" special is Fremantle -6.5
I'll be buzzing all over this one!! ;)

GLTA Lets rip 'em a new one

:D

AFL Season year to date 3-5

Started well with West Coast nearly pipping the Pies at the death.
Western Bulldogs looked to have the cover before my Kangaroos last quarter "Blitz" of 6 unanswered goals. Mind you I'll cop a loss to see the Roos get home :D And then Port Adelaide...What's goin' on with those clowns? Freo on the charge stopped only by the siren.

1-3 for the round...losing two by a combined 5 points is a bit stiff:mad:

Anyway....bring on round 3....This time it's personal!!

Round 2: 2-2

Year to Date: 3-4

The weekend was off to a great start with Essendon and looked even better when Collingwood led by 6 goals but a huge turnaround let West Coast back into the game by half time. Collingwood got out to 23 points again in the second half but then let it slip again before the 1 point victory but not enough to cover. Adelaide were always in control against Geelong and should have won by an even larger margin. For Freo to win the game against St Kilda was amazing. They trailed all day and hit the front for the first time 25 minutes into the last quarter but they couldn't kick that extra goal to cover the spread.

Round 2 results 1-3 (-3.6 units) :(

An interesting round of AFL but unfortunately not a profitable one after a couple of matches where teams won but not quite enough to cover the spread.

Essendon flexed their muscles with a convincing 52 point win over Richmond. At one stage they led by 64-4 and the winning margin could have been higher if they hadn't relaxed late in the match. This was a very nice way to start the weekend.

Sydney started slight outsiders against Carlton but absolutely dominated them all over the paddock to win by 78 points. Carlton are a proud club who must have been embarrased after only scoring 4 goals at home.

Collingwood looked an easy winner after putting up a 35 point lead in the first half. The way they played it really should have been a 60 point lead. West Coast came back into the match before halftime but when Collingwood got out to a 23 point lead in the second half things looked solid again. They relaxed late though and only scraped home by one point which was not enough to cover the -10.5 spread.

Kangaroos were in big trouble through this match and the Wstn Bulldogs looked set for victory. Some great individual effort by some of the Kangaroos players saw them storm home and in the end win by 13 points.

Adelaide were too good for Geelong and always looked like they were going to run away with a big win. Geelong had a couple of streaky patches to keep them in touch but Adelaide won it by 31 points.

An emotional day for Brisbane. They unveiled their premiership flag at the Gabba. Leigh Matthews reaching 300 games as a player and coach. They followed it up on the footy field with an awesome display smashing Hawthorn by 102 points. That is 18 wins in a row for Brisbane now and that winning record will be tested this weekend when they meet Essendon.

Melbourne are one the most inconsistent teams in the comp but 2002 could be shaping up as a good year for them after wins over Hawthorn and Port Adelaide. They raced out to a big lead over Port Adelaide but by late in the 3rd quarter Port Adelaide had got back in front and were covering the -7.5 spread. Melbourne put up a big 4th quarter and were easy 27 point winners. At the start of the season Port Adelaide looked at least a top 3 side but they haven't played at all well to date.

St Kilda were well in front all day and whilst Fremantle kept fighting a win seemed very unlikely. A huge 4th quarter saw Fremantle sneak home with less than two minutes left but they couldn't kick the one more goal required to cover the -6.5 spread.

Moving on to Round 3 ......
