Early leans:

Port Adelaide -28.5 vs Geelong
Wstn Bulldogs +18.5 vs Hawthorn
Melbourne +32.5 vs Sydney

I have spent most of this week studying the golf and I haven't really had a good look at the AFL matches yet. I will post my final plays later in the week.

For anyone that has an account with Camelot they are now taking bets on the AFL. There lines are quite different from the Aussie books which will give us a good alternative in the search for nice value.

To give you some comparison here is the current lines:

Kangaroos/Adelaide
Camelot 15.5 Aussie books 9.5 - 12.5

Richmond/West Coast
Camelot 27.5 Aussie books 27.5 - 29.5

Collingwood/Essendon
Camelot 19.5 Aussie books 22.5 - 23.5

Port Adelaide/Geelong
Camelot 33.5 Aussie books 27.5 - 30.5

Wstn Bulldogs/Hawthorn
Camelot 11.5 Aussie books 15.5 - 17.5

St Kilda/Carlton
Camelot 36.5 Aussie books 31.5 - 33.5

Sydney/Melbourne
Camelot 25.5 Aussie books 28.5 - 30.5

Fremantle/Brisbane
Camelot 35.5 Aussie books 31.5 - 33.5

Interesting to note that the 4 leans I had earlier in the week are reflected in the Camelot lines.

Cartman - have u become Camelot's linesmaker?

Just thought after the K Perry triumph and the golf killings of late Mark Del may have signed you on

Any thoughts guys on tonight's match; leaning to the Roos at a nice number of -9.5; more scoring potential although they have a tendency to concede a few too but the Crows aren't prolific?

season to date 33-25 (56.9%)

Tough round with most lines just about right.
Only one selection at this stage
Bulldogs +16.5
A number of Bulldogs playing for their future + Chris Grant's 250th should ensure that the doggies come to play expect a very physical clash.

Plays for this weekend:

West Coast +30.5 vs Richmond
Port Adelaide -28.5 vs Geelong
Wstn Bulldogs +18.5 vs Hawthorn
Melbourne +32.5 vs Sydney

Should be a good contest tonight and IMO the winner will go on to make the final eight. I think the line looks about right and I don't expect to have a bet on this one.

I think the Wstn Bulldogs +18.5 looks a very strong play especially if the rain comes down as expected. They reamin one of the strongest wet weather teams in the AFL and as Gloveski mentioned they have plenty to play for. They are still only one win out of the eight and can make if they win their next 3 games (tough but achievable). I think the loss of Rehn is a big blow for Hawthorn and does take away some of their height advantage.

I give West Coast and Melbourne a sneaky chance of pulling off major upsets in their matches. If I give them a chance to win then the 5 goal spreads have to be appealing as well.

Good luck to all.

Must admit I was fairly freaked by the Camelot lines which were almost identical to mine.

Don't think Mark Del would want me based on my recent form in the AFL. I have gone from something like 23-6 after 8 rounds and I am now only a few units ahead.

Thank god for Golf which is proving to be consistently profitable this year. I am giving some serious thought to giving up the footy and just capping Golf next year.

I was well overdue for a decent weekend on the AFL and this weekend I ended up 3-1 with my picks including a couple of upsets.

West Coast were within the +30.5 spread with only 10 mins to go but couldn't hold on. Port Adelaide was very close but managed to cover the -28.5 spread. Melbourne pulled off a big upset not only covering the +32.5 spread but actually winning quite comfortably in the end. Wstn Bulldogs did the same by not only covering the +18.5 spread but winning by 46 points.

As mentioned by Anders a great weekend for the AFL posters and certainly a big confidence booster as the finals loom.
