A few appealing games this weekend. Playing West Coast -10.5 v Sydney for 1 unit.
Also, looking at the dogs, freo, and the pies getting a stack of points against the unbeaten saints.
Pawa, do you think your roos can hold it to within 2 and a half goals against port and keep their impressive record aginst them intact?

Have to agree with PAWA here, bomber.

Really liking Sydney + the points...although waiting for the generous people at SportsTAB to give me more than the 10.5 ;)

Would have loved the Doggies, but Brian Harris out is a bigger loss than most people will realise. He has had a great season so far, and was the perfect match-up for Richo.
My guess is that now Croft will come into the side...and if I had to call it early, he might well go to full forward and put Rawlings back on Richardson ;)

Still. Hard to belive the woeful Tigers are giving points to anyone.

Looking at two other games....Port -15.5 and Carlton +whatever the hell I can get!!

Will know more tomorrow when a wider range of spreads is available.

18-14' (+6.23) for the season.

18-14' (+6.23) for the season.

OK. Verdict is in for the weekend. Plays are down, and here they are.........

Sydney +14.5 (1.85) (2 units)
Carlton +43.5 (1.85)
Doggies +12.5 (1.85)
Port Adelaide -14.5 (1.90)

Will back back with some reasons a bit later on.

That's great pawa. The one play that looked appealing to me is the systems first play for a couple of weeks. Not keen on standing on the tracks as the express picks up steam. Might have to take a second look at this one.

Sydney +14.5

Sydney are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings...and going back to 1997, they have played 3 games at Perth...Sydney are 2-1 SU and the loss was by 13 points (in 2002 with Eagles as heavy 1.33 fav's).
Going back to last season, West Coast have won only 2 of their last 9 games...by 3 and 7 points.
Sydney are 3-4 this season, with their biggest defeat being by 13 points.
Both attacks are very even, but Sydney has a huge edge in defense, and the midfield.
West Coast have allowed 381 inside 50's so far....3rd worst behind Hawthorn and the Bulldogs. They are very loose, which is bad news for the defense who have allowed a goal every 3.34 times the ball enters the 50....3rd worst behind Adelaide and he Kangaroos.

Carlton +43.5

If we discount last year's meeting (when Carlton were terrible!..Did I say that last week too? :D)..Brisbane have never beaten the Blues by more than 35 points in a home and away match.
Brisbane have only won 3 of their last 17 home roster games by more than this...They commonly tend to coast when they have the game won...rarely going for the kill.
Lynch out, and history shows that Brisbane do struggle to kick goals without him in the side.
Not suggesting Brisbane will lose this game, but too many points on offer.

{EDIT: Even in last years game which Brisbane won by 77, they kicked 9 goals to 2 in the last 1/4...made it look much worse than it was.}

Port Adelaide -14.5

Kanga's have a GREAT head-to-head record v. Port....But none of the games have been played in the dome. Port have won their last 7 straight games indoors (going back to 2001) and the last 6 in a row have been by 15 or more.
Kanga's have taken a couple of beltings in the dome this year.
They are 4th worst for allowing inside 50's and this is BAD news given that Port have the most efficient forward line in the comp by a long way....They have a shot at goal every 1.65 times the ball enters their 50!! (2 words...Warren Tredrea!)
This game wil be a shoot-out, and I don't think the Kanga's have the guns to keep up.

Doggies +12.5

Just got a great line on this one!!
Love the game being at the MCG, not the dome. Going back to 2001, the Dogs are 6-6 at the 'G, but only 2 of the 6 losses have been by more than this number.
Richmond are still crap! Beating Hawthorn was nothing...good win in Sydney last week, but the conditions certainly helped.
Not saying the Dogs are any good either!!..(esp. with Harris out  ), but I'll take 12 points against a crappy Tiger team any time.

Hope everyone has a solid weekend.

Any thought on Friday night, beast??

Taking Beastyboy's Adelaide -9.5 over Essendon purely on the Bomber's pathetic tavelling record and the fact that they struggle to reach 100pts when away!!

Geelong ML @ $2.05 x1

Also calculated a hefty multi of: Adel / Syd / Haw / Geel / Port @ $25.26  x 1u
Nothing ridiculous about this......is there??!!

Adelaide Australia
Year to Date: 12-12

The Friday Night Adelaide Essendon game is a no bet for me. I will be at the ground hoping for an Adelaide win and believe they can win. If Adelaide play like they did last week in the showdown they will win however they have only played like that 2-3 times in 7 matches. Essendon's poor travelling form is also in Adelaide's favour. However, Essendon 5 game winning streak and probably one of the their best line ups in a while makes this no play.

Round 8 Plays
West Coast -9.5 d Sydney
I just can't fight a desire to stand on the tracks here and go against the express. West Coast are at home and should be desperate for a win against a Sydney who have lost three in a row and looks to be struggling a bit.

St Kilda -35.5 d Collingwood
St Kilda is on fire and can do no wrong. They have also demonstrated they can play great football in the dome with their win over Brisbane. Collingwood gave up this number in just the last quarter after leading by 27 to Carlton last week.

Fremantle -8.5 d Hawthorn
Hawthorn were shocking last week against Geelong with very few positives to take from the match. Freo is one of top 6 teams and if they want top 4 must ans will win this type of match.

Port -15.5 d Kangaroos
Port will rebound after a disappointing game last week against Adelaide. In the dome all they need to do is get the ball to Tredrea and he could kick 10 goals. Kangaroos haven't been plaing well and I agree with Christo that in shoot-out Kangaroos won't be able to keep up.

Other Plays:
Richmond - Bulldogs
I have no idea with this one. If forced to pick Bulldogs.

Brisbane - Carlton
I never like spreads of over 6 goals and this no exception with a 40.5 point spread. The result could be Brisbane by 20 or 120 depending on how they feel on the night.

Geelong - Melbourne
Was ready to jump on Melbourne with them being only a goal favorite and then saw that Geeong had won the last 3 against Melbourne at Shell Stadium. Also, Geelong last two weeks against Hawthorn and Adelaide have been impressive so no play.

Thought you might have been all over your crows for tonights game beasty considering the dons weak performances in Adelaide of late. Dons have had a good winning streak but against the lower ranked teams. Tonight against an Adelaide team who should be full of confidence after last weeks win against port and who have had no problem disposing of the dons at footy park in recent times, the crows look the play. Enjoy the game beasty, wish I was there to join you.

Happy to see the dons win in Adelaide last night and to be honest, a little suprised by the result. :D Pawa, sounds like you were pulling for the crows mate. Did you have a wager on last nights game? Also, in the process of booking my flights for the 2nd of July but it appears that the only time I can fly out is at 6 am mate. Will get back to you on it. On to todays games.

Yep......I'm in a nice little slump at the moment bomber. I reckon I could stop the sun coming up tomorrow if I could get a bet on it!!

....and Craig.....your Crows are pathetic. When the fallen King is the best in your lot....it's time to worry.

I reckon you guys should load up on Melbourne coz I'm on the Cats!!:tongue

Adelaide were awful last night. I made mention earlier they had only played well in a few games this year and last night they did not play well which was extremely disappointing after the previous week. Carey was outstanding with 6 goals and was worth the admission just to see him play. I do give credit to Essendon as they played extremely well and showed they will be a geniune top 4 side.

Saturday has been a good day with both plays getting up. Firstly, I took on the express and survived!!! West Coast gave me a scare in the last quarter when Sydney got to within 2 before a 27 point win. The loss of Goodes early definitely hurt Syndey while the Jakovich announcement only helped my play.

St Kilda were never in doubt as winners but it was always a question of whether they would keep the margin over 36, a spread I usually like to avoid. They came through in the end with a 47 point win.

It would have been worth the admission ticket to see carey in vintage form beasty. I'm sure you enjoyed his display on friday night mate. Dropped my west coast bet to half a unit considering I thought the express was due to fire up and I'm sure it's not far away pawa. Only a matter of time until it will paw. Anyway, taking freo minus the points against the hawks for 1 unit and port minus the points for 2 units against the roos.

1-2 (-2.15) for the week

Port Adelaide v. Kangaroos over 210.5 (2.35)

Also adding Freo -6.5 (1.80)

Thompson out for Hawks...Really tough to see where their goals are going to come from.

9 - 17 (-9.68)

Yes bomber, backflips, frontflips, you name it!!!......But as as been my last month, I had the choice of going to watch my Roos (my 10yr old son said "We'll kill 'em dad!") at the Dome, or go to the Museum (6yr old lad wanted to see dinosaur bones!). So I said let's go to the Museum!!!
We came out to get in the car afterwards just as Harvey kicks his umpteenth goal puting us up by 72 points!

Copped it all the way home from the older one about how I should barrack for Collingwood coz "I've got no faith in my team" :D :D Smartarse!!

Can't wait to see the replay of the game.

'Strong plays' numbers went 1 - 1 (though I didn't post them - Saints + Freo)

Im currently enduring my worst month of gambling ever and I'm just waiting for this storm to pass!
I never thought it could get like this.

The Roos victory will keep my head up though!!

It has been a tough year in AFL and I haven't seen too many people around the traps in front by much....if at all.

But there is always next week.

*Forgot to ask Christo. Did you go and watch the Hawks game while they were over on your island?

No, PAWA. Didn't go.

Had plans to meet up with some guys, but it was a typical icy winters day! Had visions of last years game when it BELTED down just after half time. Obviously no fun sitting in a covered area, cause the beer stands are too far away! :D

Oh, and besides that I was (still am) nursing a badly bruised right hand from punching a chair after we kicked about our 10th straight point the day before!

Not only did it hurt, but of course I felt silly as hell afterwards! :(

2.15 to beat Carlton next week! ...I can't keep doing it to myself, can I? :nono:

Kanga's were unbelievable in the 3rd. But Port eually as bad.
How the ****ing hell do you lose an over 210 bet when one team hits 140??
