Hi Guys,

The AFL pre season competition (known as the Wizards Home Loans Cup) kicks off tonight.

There is only limited betting available on the individual games at the moment but I have found a couple of futures bets that seem good value:

Port Adelaide to win @ $7.50
Hawthorn to win @ $8.00

Both these sides look very strong and generally perform well early in the season. Importantly the two strongest clubs Brisbane and Essendon use this competition as an opportunity to give their younger players a run.

I have taken a decent look at how all the AFL teams shape up for this season in particular the impact of players lost and gained.

In the next couple of days I will post a preview of each side and would certainly encourage any of the other Down Under cappers to add their thoughts.

The regular AFL season is due to start mid March.

:)

Looking forward to your views Cartman88
I think you can add the Kangaroos @ $7.50 into the preseason mix.
The King is looking in great shape and is due for some blinders...

PAWAQATSI,

Welcome to the forum.

It should be an interesting game today with Hawthorn (paying $1.95) facing the Kangaroos (paying $1.75).

I had this match pegged in favour of Hawthorn so I was surprised to see them as the slight outsider. I am obviously cheering on Hawthorn with my futures bet in mind.

:D

Thanx Cartman88... It was actually Anders that pointed out this site to me at the start of the NFL season (G'day Anders !!) and I have been lurking ever since.

It must have been that fat wad I put down on the ROOS that brought them in!!!! LOL :D
At least they went down fighting....and the King played well.

Plenty of upsets over the weekend as I expected with so many big name players missing from most teams. I had the CATS, EAGLES and CROWS penciled in but only got on Adelaide and certainly got my money's worth in those final couple of minutes  The Port line -2.5 and the Under got me back in front
They do look the team to beat in this preseason comp.
I look forward to trading selections with you in round 2....
