Planning on an Alaska cruise 7 days sometime in Sept. I want to start our cruise in Vancouver usually we go in at least 2 days before cruise starts . I'm close to 72 yrs old and wife 64 so we need some time to recover from flight and see some sights. This is the itinerary below that I'm leaning towards. If anyone has cruised Alaska or info. about some of the stops please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Depart 4:30pm
Day 1 ∙ Cruising the Inside Passage, At Sea
Day 2 ∙ Juneau, United States Arrive 1:00pm - Depart 10:00pm
Day 3 ∙ Skagway, United States Arrive 7:00am - Depart 9:00pm
Day 4 ∙ Cruising Glacier Bay, United States Arrive 7:00am - Depart 4:00pm
Day 5 ∙ Ketchikan, United States Arrive 10:00am - Depart 6:00pm
Day 6 ∙ Cruising the Inside Passage, At Sea
Day 7 ∙ Vancouver, Canada Arrive 7:00am

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Enjoy it

Enjoy it

We did the same experience on a small cruise ship....including the crew and passengers, there was 91 people....

Liked the experience a lot....being a small ship we went under waterfalls...

Got so close to whales I was able to look down the spout hole.....

Very restful trip......enjoy a cold beer on deck and watch the bald eagles and seaplanes....

Juneau fly to glacier top...
Skagway was a waste to me....gold field stories
Ketchikan wildlife,totem poles.
Sitka was the best stop.....toured canneries...ate seafood just out of ocean....
We did a whitewater raft trip..pretty cool.

The cruise lines will offer additional things to do.....at extra cost..pick and choose.

Almost got sick of salmon and crab legs......:0074

Thanks Dead. You brought up a good point about small ships. Had a customer yrs. ago highly recommend small ship because they can maneuver a lot easier and get closer to areas that large ships can't get near. I know the cost is a lot more , will do some research.

Worth the extra money.....we were told the ginormous big ships propellers actually scare off the whales in Prince William sound.

We followed a whale pod for half a day....also snuck up on a mother grizzly bear scraping clams off the rocky bank....she was teaching her 3 cubs how to get a quick snack....we were about 100-150 yards away, parked watching the experience...

At glacier bay, they chipped off a chunk of the blue ice, brought it down to the lounge. We put $5 each in a jackpot. Closest day and time that it would be completely melted.:toast:
