Round 1 play (2pts):

Joost Luiten to beat Stephen Gallacher -121 @ Pinnacle [available generally]
Opposing Gallacher after such a different week last week as the home player, wildcard pick and pointless. For the Europeans that played well in the Ryder Cup, there is a good chance of a carry-over of that form to this week, but that was not the case with Gallacher and it is difficult to see him playing well in an event in which he has a very mixed record. Luiten finished 4th-5th-1st in his last three starts, has made the cut in five of six previous attempts here, and rested last week. He should be a strong favourite in this matchup.

Round 3 play (2pts):

Rory McIlroy to beat Martin Kaymer -165 @ 5Dimes [available generally]
McIlroy is set to extend his h2h record against Kaymer to 18 wins in their last 20 common events as he currently lies in 20th place after 36 holes, whereas Kaymer is 110th. Both are playing Kingsbarns tomorrow so Kaymer may do enough to make the cut, but he has yet to break par this week so there are clear signs of a Ryder Cup hangover. McIlroy did show those signs in rd1, but bounced back with 67 around St Andrews today and is now a strong contender at just five shots off the pace. It seems bizarre that a player in 20th position after 36 holes should still be the favourite to win the event with all the bookies, but there were very encouraging signs today and last week's event have had carryover effects to players in previous years and I suspect that this will be the case with McIlroy, but not Kaymer now that he is outside the top-100.

[unofficial rd3 system plays: Els tb Harrington -110; Schwartzel tb Kaymer +100; Molinari F tb Hansen S -138; Olesen tb Bourdy -120]

Round 4 play (2pts):

Shiv Kapur to beat Garrick Porteous -108 @ Pinnacle [also available @ 5Dimes and Paddy Power]
Porteous had been inside the top-20 after the first two rounds, but only just made the cut after today's round at Carnoustie and I don't see a rebound happening tomorrow - he has been over-par in every rd4 this year apart from one (Swiss Challenge) when he shot a level par final round. That is why is is 649 places behind Kapur in the World Rankings and why Kapur has a 7-1-0 h2h record against him in 2014, including 4-0-0 in rd4 alone. I'd expect much shorter odds in this matchup.

[unofficial rd4 system play: Havret tb Uihlein +133]
