All eyes on Woods at 2010 Masters Tournament

The PGA Tour?s first major tournament, The Masters, kicks off Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club, and it won?t be defending champion Angel Cabrera getting all the attention.

The spotlight will instead be shining brightly on the World?s No. 1-ranked golfer, as Tiger Woods returns for his first tournament since a win in Australia last November.

And Woods is picking up where he left off ? he?s the favorite to win The Masters at +400 in PGA Golf Betting Odds at betED.com.

World No. 8 Ernie Els, who has never worn the Green Jacket as Masters champion, is at +1000, followed by World No. 3 Phil Mickelson at +1200.

As most carbon-based lifeforms on the planet are aware, Woods, the four-time Masters champion, was involved in a car accident outside his Florida home last Thanksgiving weekend, which in turn sparked a series of revelations of extramarital affairs.

Woods was not seen in public for weeks following the accident, and in January entered a rehab facility for 45 days where he underwent treatment for sex addiction.

He read a prepared statement in February, agreed to two, brief TV interviews in March, and held a full press conference Monday at Augusta. While Woods has played a few practice rounds at Augusta in the weeks leading up to the tournament, he has not played an official event.

Woods? four Masters wins puts him in a tie for second place with Arnold Palmer, behind Jack Nicklaus, who has six wins at Augusta.

The 96-player field will be competing for a $7 million purse.

The 2010 tournament at Augusta is expected to receive the highest TV ratings in the history of the Masters.

ESPN has coverage starting at 4 pm ET Thursday and Friday before CBS takes over for the final two days of play.

Like Goosen, too. Good history here, and additional value off of the missed cut last year.....
