Explain in detail if you will the proper way to jook up the followin items:

Cable
Cable Box (Descrambler)
VCR
DVD
TV
Stereo (Inlcudes SRS for TV)

The help I need is pretty rudimentary for some of you, for me it just pisses me off.

What am I looking for, well starting from teh outlet in the wall with the cable cord, what should htat be hooked into, and son, and so on.

Currently I have the items hooked up, but can play VCR on TV but just can't record, can't get DVD running on TV at all, got stereo up and running but no TV/Surround SOund coming through... If you take baby steps I pormise to get it right! lol

Thanks in advance for your help!

This is how I would hook it up, or try

cable -> cable box ->vcr -> tv

dvd -> tv

audio out on tv -> stereo

Let me know some more specifics in terms of your tv (number of inputs and outputs) if this doesnt fit.

really for the best sound, you want to run the sound out from each your components to the stereo before they go to the TV. Especially from the DVD player and potentially from the VCR (HiFi). Depending on the outputs of your descrambler, you might have to run it to the TV first, then out to the stereo.

otherwise the volume and settings on the tv will control what it sounds like, even though it is coming out of the stereo. you might be able to turn it off and have a 'pass through port' of sorts if you look in the tv manual.

it all depends on the stereo and how many inputs it has and whether you run the video feeds through the stereo as well.

Good point Wondo, guess we need a little more info. I have all my components run through a receiver and from there it goes into the tv and it makes a world of difference.

Definetely need more info. It all depends on how many A/V inputs you have on the back of your TV and how many Audio inputs you have on the back of your stereo. If you don't have many jacks on the back of your TV, you might have to go someplace like Radio Shack and get some type of box where you run all your components to that box and have one output from that box to your TV or Stereo. You will probably have to manually switch it which will not be able to be done with a remote.

I run everything to my TV first, and then on to the stereo. I have Bose speakers and it sounds pretty good to me. W/O being there, it is pretty hard to give a good step by step procedure. Good Luck
