Barrera/tapia demonstrates that HBO will just put together fights that people want to see regardless of belts.
I came in right before the first fight on saturday and they were talking to fighters about fighting without belts being on the line and what the belts really mean. I missed most of it; maybe someone can fill me in on the better points.
So, can we add HBO to WBC, IBO, IBF, WBA, etc.?
I hope so, because the only fights HBO is going to care about showing are the fights that get ratings, i.e. the fights WE WANT TO SEE.
I think I am correct to say tapia was stripped because Barrera wasn't the mandatory challenger. Good for him. He also got his biggest pay day ever.
