SMELLY LUGGAGE GIVES AWAY MARIJUANA SMUGGLER IN PNG
Port Moresby, June 17 AAP - A man has been arrested trying to smuggle 20kg of pungent marijuana in his luggage through the airport in Papua New Guinea's capital.
The strong smell of the cannabis alerted security guards at Port Moresby airport, who discovered 16 parcels of the illegal drug in the man's luggage.
He was arrested on Saturday after flying to Port Moresby from the northern PNG city of Lae.
An Air Niugini security guard told PNG newspaper The National he had detected ``a strong smell of cannabis emanating from two bags belonging to the passenger''.
When he inspected the bags the guard found large paper-wrapped packages of marijuana, poorly concealed underneath clothing.
