That thinks Jake Delhomme receiving a 5-year/$38 M contract is stupider than Method Man and Redman having their own TV show?

I hope Jake gives at least 50% of that lucrative contract to that sweet offensive line that put up a brick house around him and made this little pig look like a sharp-shooter in the pocket.

This guy is nothing more than ordinary.

If you make it to the NFL level as a quarterback, it means that you can hit moving targets. What separates great quarterbacks from good ones is that they get rid of the ball quicker, or they use their heads/athletic ability to create time for their decision making. 90% of quarterbacks in the NFL could have played above average for Carolina last year a la Trent Dilfer and this guy getting 7+ Million a year is unconscionable.

$10 says he doesn't see the end of this contract.

It -is- a bit iffy considering he's only had the one year of success. I'd be nervous if I was paying the bills.

This is typical of NFL owners, giving this type of contract to the boobs after only one good season or in Jake's case half a season.

Others that I can think of Rob Johnson the stiff from USC, Tommy Maddux at Pitt, every Fla Gator QB before they even threw a pass in the NFL:D

And who can forget the SD debacle Ryan Leach, what a loser.

I know the some of these were draft picks, but same reasoning and there are many more that get big contracts after a short showing from a back up like Elvis Gerbac, what a stiff.

on and on, then the owners wonder why they are over the cap or why they lose money:shrug:

I withhold judgement on whether Delhomme is worth his contract but I DO know this: the Saints were complete IDIOTS to let this guy get away before last season in favor of keeping what's-his- name? That guy is HORRIBLE! The reason Delhomme is a winner and whats-his-name isn't is that Jack makes smart decisions with the ball and minimizes mistakes. I'll take a smart but less talented arm over an athletic but mistake-prone QB any day.

he had a hell of a 2nd half in the sb, and a couple of his passes were thrown perfectly. not sure it earns 38m but the guy has fire and i believe his teammates will play for him.

he won me close to a dime so i think he deserves a nice contract.;)

i agree that it was a bad signing.

jake has had only 1 good year.

lets see him do it again before giving him this type of contract.

This signing seems to be very typical in the NFL. Possible one year wonders cashing in. The real question to me is how Carolina adapts to it's recent success in relation to the cap. When a team has success, everyone wants a piece of the pie. I watched this for years with my Cowboys. Personnel management and proper fiscal decisions will become even more crucial for Carolina now and in the future. I myself beleive Jake to be no more than an average QB. I say they will be fortunate to go 9-7 or 8-8 next season even if Jake plays well. It's alot easier to reach that level than it is to maintain that level. Next season, Carolina will slip up on noone as teams will game plan for them more in detail. My prediction : Carolina goes about 4-12 ATS, and that's all that matters to me. Time will tell.
