""To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic.""

It is unfortunate that these people find democracy a stumbling block for the institution of their policies.

Fortunately,( or unfortunately for them) that is the system of government that we have here.

Socialism is crumbling around the world - and please - before I get flamed for saying the dreaded "S" word -
The problem with socialism is not being compassionate or kind to others - that is inherently human and the purpose of civilization itself - to band together and share the burden. So, the downside of socialism is NOT the national healthcare, or the police and fire departments or social security or public schools or other programs designed to help society. The problem with socialism is the centralized state control. And here, you hear of two people arguing for more centralized state control. You have elitists arguing that they, or their appointees, are better at deciding the fate of the nation, than you, its citizens. These are the same people who have made promises upon promises and have lacked the funds to pay for it. And now, all those promises can not be kept - as pension funds, etc fall short across the world. The situation in Greece is merely a shot across the bow - and they are trying to solve a debt crisis there by issuing MORE DEBT!

It is pure insanity.

George W. Bush's "Rubble Speech" revisited...

"The man responsible for knocking down these buildings will be held accountable...

...in about 10 years, when I'm no longer President, but after I've already taken his bait and bankrupted my country with pointless wars that have killed twice as many Americans as he did and cost the American people $Trillions of dollars, and I've succeeded in creating generations of future terrorists bent on avenging the death and destruction I shall rain down upon those who had the misfortune of being born in the Middle East where there's lots of untapped oil reserves which Dick Cheney and I intend to make sure American oil companies secure the rights to, from which Dick & I (and a few close friends) can secure our cut of the profits."

Spent much time on a college campus lately, Wease? Totalitarians? Hardly. You'd be more accurate if you said they were ambivalent or anti-conformists. I spend plenty of time on a college campus each week and you'd be surprised at how little is actually going on in any political sense. During the last elections there were booths set up on both sides of the sidewalk with both parties very active along with additional parties showing up. There's nobody out preaching (except the occasional yelling religious zealot), mostly it's kids talking about what they're gonna do later or at the level I am most of them are stressing about how much they have to do. Very little politics (including the professors) and even less proscribing any kind of total government takeover. Far from it. But don't let that get in the way of a good sensationalist diatribe...

Interesting to note you're apparently following a dude in a yellow hood to get your conspiratorial info now, Wease. Nice work... does he wear that for effect or to hide his real identity? Seriously...

I was thinking the same thing when Weez posted the clip of the mask-wearing Youtuber.

Can Skulnik's Larry Sinclair clip be far behind?
