After rebuffing overtures from Playboy, Anna Kournikova will appear in the buff (partly) in the June issue of Penthouse.

A freelance photographer with a long lens shot the tennis star. The 10-page spread features text (for those so inclined) and 18 photographs. The issue hits newsstands next Tuesday.

"She's sunbathing in South Beach is my understanding,'' a Penthouse source said Monday. "They're good photos, they're done well, very tasteful. They're quite flattering.''

Kournikova and her people might think otherwise.

While they have positioned her as something of a sex kitten, they have done so without letting her be overexposed, literally and figuratively.

The Penthouse cover figures to change all that with a tease to "Exclusive: Anna Kournikova caught close up on nude beach.''

Any shots of her with singer/latest romantic interest Enrique Iglesias?

"No, just pictures of her,'' the source said.

And none of those National Enquirer grainy shots from afar?

"That's my understanding.''

The pictures that are going to be in the magazine don't really look like her. Her marketing firm is fighting it claiming the pictures are not her.

iF I remember correctly, she's got one hell of a "camel-toe".... I'm guessin' that most of the upcoming pics are probably of her in some thong, sunbathing on her stomach. I just hope the pics don't resemble the ones Madonna did back in the mid 80's. Those were very ....very ......very NASTY!

Wareagle, I believe that the pictures they are showing are some that have been out for a while that show her sunbathing topless. The pictures are not close up and not very clear. The picture you posted with the see-thru tennis out fit is better than the ones I have seen. I believe that Penthouse will make a killing with this issue and most people will be disappointed. I sure hope that I am wrong and these are new photos that have not been seen. I thought she looked UNBELIEVABLE in this segment ESPN did on women , sports and sex.

infinii, you may be right about the photoshop, but that pic came from her website. i really doubt that someone would do this to themselves, although nothing seems to amaze me nowadays. the more and more i look at it you are right. whoever did that did a fine job i must say

The picture I posted is pretty clear. Judging by the picture, it would explain why her handlers are disputing it's authenticity.
