Announcers

Preface: I have been sick and unable to leave my house for three days. This rant may be partly because I have not talked to another grown human being since this morning, lol.

The announcers in the Thunder-Mavericks game are just ridiculous. I have never heard so much ass-kissing for one team and bashing for the other. Oklahoma can do no wrong, they are the "best at this", the "best at that".

Dallas is the "worst at this", the "worst at that". On their second unit - "They can't leave these guys out there very long, they just can't score" and then they put in 16 points (not counting Dirk), more than OKC's bench and they have nothing to say about that.

Now at halftime they are wrecking Collison for not being a good PG because he scored so many points. He is 6-11 from the field, and the rest of the team without him is shooting 32%! Well, maybe that's the reason he only has one assist, morons. At least they managed to get the slightest jab in on Westbrook dogging him for his poor shot selection. I am quickly becoming un-fan of Westbrook.

I have honestly never heard announcers so wreck one team and emulate another during the game.

Nowitzki looks like crap, the team shot 37% from the field in the first half, and O.J. Mayo hasn't even scored a point yet. Hopefully they can pull it out. Even if I hadn't bet on them, I would be routing for them now, because of how one-sided these moronic announcers are.

Collison hits a 3 right in their face and then makes a sweet move through the lane and they are all laughing like it is unbelievable that he made those shots. Then Durant gets a dunk (OK it was sweet) and they freak out like it is the BEST thing that has ever happened. Then Westbrook with the "sweet crossover".

Just shut up.

This is what I want to create - a way that you can watch these games with just the sounds in the venue, no announcers. You could have a choice, to watch with the announcers, or just with the crowd/player noises. Think about how cool that would be, especially for college games.

P.S. It can be fun to have conversations with yourself. I usually have a lot of them when I watch NBA games...

I have always thought there was a striking similarity between the Liger from Napoleon Dynamite and Chris Kaman...

OH MYYYYYYYYYYY

That was awesome.

For my own selfish reasons, I didn't want OT... But OK, I won't be SO selfish. I still hope Dallas wins. They deserve it.

Well, depending on whether you are a pessimist or optimist, you could say Mayo lost that game for Dallas in OT or Westbrook won it in OT.

Poor Dallas. Poor Liger.

OK, I'm out with my useless drivel. Have a wonderful night, all.

I am with you about 3 billion percent. I have wanted this since I was a little kid. I remember watching soccer matches on PBS with my Dad when I was a little kid. He would often comment about how great the announcing was. There was only one. He would say something about once every minute it seemed like. I often think back to that sweet simplicity when faced with the blowhards that populate the airwaves today.

I don't think announcers necessarily need to be eliminated altogether. However, there is NO need for color commentators. All that is needed is one guy to clarify anything that isn't readily understandable from watching it on TV. I don't know why they can't also give viewers the option of just having a mike that picks up the crowd noise without being forced to endure the majority of announcers that are just plain awful.

I think that's a great idea about no color commentator, and just one to clarify, because there are sometimes things that need illustrated better, especially for people who don't watch sports that much. As you can see above, I create my own color commentary throughout the game, haha! (Most of the time I happen to think my commentary is funnier and wittier, although others in the room may choose to disagree. But if you can't make yourself laugh, then you are missing a great joy in life!)

But having the option to switch them all off or listen to the one guy would be amazing. I think the great "moments" in sports would be amplified for those viewing it at home, because it would be more realistic, almost like you were there.

These are my thoughts for how the future of sports viewing will go. They will place a nest of cameras in one spot set up in the front row. I'm talking about a huge bundle of hundreds, maybe thousands, of tiny cameras that are all shooting off at different angles. The viewers will be able to sit at home, turn their heads and have the view on the screen shift with their movements. This will probably mean individual glasses that the user wears to project the view to them. The microphone will be set up right along with the cameras to give the person at home the audio experience as well. It will be like having a front row seat right in your living room. :00hour
